Oil on damper...

Post by CyanideX » Mon Jun 10, 2019 9:46 pm

Mot picked up on oil on the damper, my local specialist states that because it’s DRC it must go to Audi as they don’t have the equipment to do it. They originally quoted me 1k to replace the damper till they realised...

Anyway is this true first of all, does the shock need replacing? Is it only Audi that can do it?

Thanks

MRC and some other specialists can do it too.

But misting on damper is a sure sign of DRC going I'm afraid.

I'm due to travel to south Spain with the beast in two weeks, can someone recommend a specialist that can replace for me? I live in Shropshire and don't mind travelling around an hour or so.

Check MRC (Banbury) and Unit 20 (Wirral). But I wouldn't panic, if the car is not making knocking noises from suspension when cold then the misting is a very early indicator that the seals are going, and not a cause to panic.
Enjoy the trip :-)
