Audi smartphone carplay activation

Am going to get this done. Just need to find a sensible time when he and I are both awake.
Only question I have is how and when do you pay the fella?

I paid the fella the next day after having a good play with the system (which I was using android auto). I then paid by paypal using a revolut card loaded in US$.

PS I did mine on a Sunday afternoon (it must have been small hours over in China). Took just over an hour, and im pretty sure he must have nodded off during install as there was a long silence on the telegram messenger once or twice!

I had it done on a Monday morning. I think he runs a Shop as he kept being distracted saying it was really busy there.
I just paid with PayPal after.

Got mine done yesterday.
Took him a while to do it as he kept disappearing for 10 minutes at a time. He said it was because the Chinese government kept blocking his VPN.

Anyway, despite that he’s done it and it’s working a treat.

I asked if he worked for Audi and he said “no”. I didn’t press for more info.

I presume you must have a late 2016 or newer RS6, as Audi would only retro-activate on I think MY16 May or later. We've been getting it done on cars Audi has refused to. (mine way MY16 April so just missed the cut off). Im exceedingly happy to have it enabled now!

As long as it has a MIB2 unit which I believe is every facelift car from 2015.

If anyone with the older cars are interested HazzyDayz will install the Unique Auto kit, said they've done about 20 (not all on RS6/A6) and haven't had any issues. Think fitting is about £120 + Vat if you don't fancy it yourself. Unit is around £450 I believe.

Quite tempted.

Typically having made the call that my FL 15 car wasnt getting anymore MMI updates I had the carplay hack carried out. Audi have just called me to say there is now an MMI update avaiable (no idea what for) and to booke my car in. Has anyone actually had this done as does it wipe the carplay (or possibly add it legitimately)?

I too am having that upgrade (but havent had the carplay hack). I think its to improve the sound on calls as they tend to distort quite a bit
