Sunroof

Post by SimonG » Sun Mar 03, 2019 8:59 pm

Slightly useless question I know but thought I’d seek views. How essential is having one mainly from a resale perspective.
I’d like a sunroof but probably not essential if rest of spec was good.
Cheers

I didn't bother speccing one and would have no problem buying one without.

Did you say Sunroof or Leakyroof! I’d steer clear of them, just something else to go wrong!

You will get mixed responses to that question. A pan roof was a must have when I was searching for an RS6. Wouldn't have touched one without it.
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

Looks great with one fitted but some people say they barely use it. Others are having issues with water leaks (C7 issue not just RS6) and others are fine.

For me it was a must have and I use it a lot, particularly for the kids in the back, but it's down to personal preference. However, come resale I think they sell better with than without. When I was looking there were a couple without that seemed to linger on the market for quite a while possibly due to not having one.

RS4 (B8.5) 2015 - Sold

Nothing wrong with a pan roof

As said I wouldn’t buy without one now

Had one with and one without

Lightens up interior and great in the summer....but I’m a sun worshiper!

What sun? There’s no sun in the north east.

Can’t say I’m bothered, had them and mostly not used them. Not fussed about the additional light, which with tint is marginal anyway. They will rattle and apparently leak.

And if you want to be anal a massive heavy glass roof raises the centre of gravity on what’s a fat bastard of a car to start with.

Hahaha I was going to say the same; useful for all 2 sunny days a year in the Toon.

Thanks all , split vote as to be expected . I will now serve article 50 on the dealer and aim to collect prior to 2021 :)

Cheers for replies I only needed a couple to say not essential to justify my thinking .

So Volvo XC90 66 plate up for sale if anyone interested . Decent spec and jolly good car just not for me ..

I've had 3 RS Motors all with Pan roof options . Not one ever rattled or leaked! There not landrovers, If you don't have a pan roof there's loads of reasons telling yourself why you don't need it, still its fact it's a deal breaker for those wanting high specs ;-)

There not landrovers
I agree with Anth's post entirely - except the Landrover part :bigblink: I've had 5 Range Rovers and a Discovery over the past 10 years, all with Pan Roofs, and not a single squeak, rattle or leak for any of them. Just wanted to put that out there.

Ha ok I'll give you that - If I'm being honest I also never had a pan roof fault with any my Landrovers over the years, they just stuck to electronics errors for me :boohoo: I'm just still sore over my 3month old Vouge Autobiography going in to limp mode with a gear box seal in Paris central on me 4 years ago !
