Speed cameras in the sat nav

Post by tonybrown5 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 1:48 pm

Hi all, is there a way to get speed camera warnings on the sat nav? I will at some point be purchasing a cheap sim card for Google maps but want to know if it can be done with the standard offering?
Car is a 2016 performance if that helps.
Also does anyone know if a phone can be used via Audi phone box as a SIM base instead of buying a separate SIM?

There is a way to create a custom map by adding any points of interests you like such as speed cameras. Quite a lengthy process from memory and I think it just shows up on the map but not give any audible warning so I didn't bother in the end.

Thanks for the reply, Shame it can't be done. I'll have a look at the Google maps option.

I have a copy of a Windows app written by a chap on another car forum that created POI's for all the UK's Fixed, Mobile, Red Light & Specs cameras.
It downloaded all the camera data from Pocketgpsworld.com & generated an update file on an SD card.
This worked really well on the Audi RS3 (8V) series, but unfortunately didn't work on my RS 7 (4G)

I'll try & track down the chap who wrote the app & see if he's up for modifying it to work on the RS6/7 (4G) platform
