MILLTEK/WARRANTY

Post by SimonG » Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:37 pm

Evening all , for anyone that is bothered to recall ,my RS6 got written off in a head on in France .
Decided to buy new ishXC90 for family and R8 for fun .... bought XC90 but whilst nothing wrong with it ,it’s not much (any) fun..
So back to plan b) and going to get another RS6..

If a car has milltek what does it do to Audi warranty ?

Cheers

Been discussed so many times on here. Everyone has a different opinion and experience. Depends a lot on your relationship with your dealer and what you are trying to claim for to a certain extent. If you have a blown engine and try to claim the decision will probably be with Audi UK so your dealer might not be able to help in that scenario.
Personally I think a cat back will be ok in most claims, but there is always a risk.

I assume you mean cat back? If turbo back then forget it.

Thanks I’m sitting here searching previous threads and not as straight forward as I thought ... so . . Questions;
How do I find out what type of milltek?
What are they worth 2nd hand
Is it feasible to swap with an Audi sports exhaust
Having read a bit I really don’t want something that is loud all the time
Cheers

I’m thinking of an XC90 as next purchase. Which one have you got?

Rtf, 66 plate momentum with decent spec .. blis, lane departure, auto braking , 20inch diamond cut alloys, winter pack - heat steering wheel, seats , windscreen, other bits.
It’s really decent and @ 240bhp not a slouch - had the last XC90 for 14 years and 180,000 miles so don’t dislike. If a decent R8 turned up I’d change my mind and keep it but 8 year old R8s you can trust are few and far between it seems ...

You should have got the T8 r design pro. Much nicer and sportier than the momentum.

Back to exhausts, I had a modified Sport exhaust for 3 years and loved it and loved how cheap it was to modify. No drone, but loud enough to hear. I had my valves disconnected all the time as it wasn't too loud. I'm sure if you leave the valves connected it will be quiet when closed.
However, after 3 years I fancied a change and picked up a non resonated milltek. At first I thought it was very similar but the more I heard it the more I loved it (maybe took a bit of time to settle in?). I have just switched back to modified oem and it now sounds so quiet. Really miss the sound of the milltek.

Why the switch?
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

I’m surprised given the attention and praise the usual suspects gave it in the press. Interior isn’t in the same class granted.

It was, bit of a long story but essentially a neighbour had 3 masked men threaten his wife with knives etc for the keys to their RS6 so moving to something a little lower down the stolen car list for a while.
