Banging/knocking when going over bumps

Over the last couple of days I have had a banging coming from the nearside rear when I go over a bump, it's slowly getting worse, I've booked the car in with Audi but they can't see the car for a couple of weeks, I put the car on a jack and had a look but can't see anything obvious, reading on here I see that the DRC can fail giving a knocking sound so I'm thinking it may be this.

Has anyone had this and is it a problem if I still drive the car sensibly.

I may just drive down to Audi service and ask them to look but worried they might say I can't use the car until they can get it in which buggers me for transport.

Is the problem worse when cold than later in a journey? If so, it's a likely sign of DRC failure. The other telltale is visible "misting" of oil on the unit.

If not - have you checked for something loose in the boot well?

Dave

Its pretty consistent, I will have another look for oil etc.

Yes emptied the boot first of all, found I had a jack that I never knew I had :D

In Audi ATM master tech said very common and they do loads which is worrying, needs all DRC to be replaced

Check the offside front too as they are diagonally connected and when leaking the noise often comes from its connected counterpart.

Both fronts have gone causing low pressure in rears and knocking, the only problem is shocks on back order, they replace all 4

Not many C6 or C7 fail to be fair!

Something else to point out, they want the original wheels fitted to the car to submit the claim to Audi !

Just thought I’d post a update, got car back from dealer yesterday, complete DRC system replaced under warranty including pipe work, all seems good and rides like new

Sounds like a good result! If you don't mind me asking how old is your's and has it done many miles?

Shocking that Audi are STILL having trouble with DRC after all these years :audibash:

Good outcome though, congrats.

Agreed, how have they not designed it better yet? They've known for it least 13 years that it's crap.

Just got my car in at Audi now and they’ve said they have to replace shocks, I also have DRC system but I think they said they were just replacing the opposite number - so 2 in total. Any idea if this is a thing or is it normally all 4?
