Misfire?

Post by MountainMutant » Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:39 am

Joined the M25 into a tunnel yesterday and dropped the pedal for some aural pleasure.

Let off the gas and the usual pops and bangs were then followed by maybe 5 seconds of flashing engine light which then went out. Car seems fine but has put the fear into me!

A quick google seems to say this happens when there is a misfire. First service due in a month so will mention it then but anyone else had this?

Could be, not sure if the light would stay on after a misfire though, maybe a coil on the way out? if the cars fine i wouldn't worry but get it plugged in see if it's recorded a fault code on one of the cylinders just to out your mind a rest. I had a Q7 a few years back and remember the same random stutter, EML flash then never saw its again .

There’s a specific fault on these engines that causes cylinder 5 to misfire? Been known on both standard and mapped cars.

My old 2014 C7 sometimes did it

You will find the stop start system will also develop a fault when it happens....but generally oks itself after engine turned on and off again

RS6Chrus... That is exactly what happened.

Stop start error that cleared on restart.

I'll stop panicking!

I’ve heard there could be a software update from Audi to cure? But not 100% sure?
