Hi guys,

just trying to gauge but does anyone know how long standard steel (wavey) and standard pads should last on a 2015 RS6? Specifically the pads...

Cheers :beerchug:

I changed my front pads at about 20-25k.
My rear set need changing now at 30k. Think I'll have to change rear discs too as don't think they will last another 30k.

I got 23k miles out of my front discs and pads - 2015 6

Was 65% worn rear pads at 39k miles when I sold it.

My RS6PE is with Reading Audi right now having a brake grabbing issue investigated.
Having found nothing wrong with braking system (as expected), they’ve pointed out my discs and pads are 75% worn and I should consider replacing pads and discs, front and back.
Couple of things:
• The car has done 29k miles, 9k of which with me since buying from Southampton Audi in July ‘18.
• My miles are mainly motorway with the odd, good spank in between. Discs at this mileage seems unusual to me
• Car under warranty until end of ‘19.
• Prices are £1458.92 and £1777.93 for front and back respectively which seems stiff.

I’m inclined to go to an indie when the time comes assuming I’m out of warranty. I’m in Berkshire area btw if any good specialists come to mind.

Any guidance/thoughts appreciated.

2015 RS7 with 75k on the clock, ceramic disks are less than 20% worn, pads are 50% worn.

If you’re keeping the car a while, who says ceramics aren’t worth it?

That is an interesting benchmark for sure. Hadn't even considered that. Cheers

Those pads look only 50% worn at max, they don't have tonnes on to start with.

Thanks LeeRS6, really helpful. I’m not at all technically minded so I’m ripe for being ripped off!!

2+ Tonne car, 560-700bhp+ mostly driven by enthusiastic drivers, I’d say 20k is pretty reasonable personally ;)

I drive like an absolute nun - hardly ever get to push the car (I live in Surrey - you are only as fast as he car in front, or the one in front of that, or the one in front...). Plus, I would say that I do 90-95% of my miles on the motorway. The car needed four discs and pads all round at 28000 miles. The rear pads were 60% worn but the discs were shagged due to a lack of use.

It sorted out the vibration, of course, which was due to a lack of occasional, hard braking. I note that is gradually coming back, 10,000 miles into the new set.

That sounds eerily familiar. Any pushing of the car tends to be planned road trips or sporadic. Cheers

Rs6 pads only have about 17mm of meat on them so its not that much in the first place.

@holmsfree did they provide you with disc thickness measurements? Its usually the best way to work out how worn they are as they have the min thickness printed on the disc

And thinking harder about it, of my ~9k miles, I can account for most of them on trips to Spain, France and Scotland.
Maybe need to use more often and harder at home. Cheers

29k is not unreasonable for these cars. I recalll some changing them at about 20k or less.

And this thread is only a few months old so dig away.

Thanks Morski. "75% worn as measured with a Vernier gauge" is all the details I have beyond the photos.
