Downpipes

Post by bigbaz1974 » Fri Dec 28, 2018 12:12 pm

Probably a silly question, if you go stage 2 and get replacement downpipes will the car fail the MOT emissions test. Do you need to remove it every time you go for an MOT.

Cheers

Most likely yes if they are catless. Sports cats will probably be OK though.

Was looking at a full miltek system with cat bypass downpipes, car is stage 1 at the moment was thinking about this and getting stage 2 map, bit of a pain changing it back to the cat every MOT just to gain maybe another 60hp

Yes i agree unless you have a "friendly" garage. Sports cats will get you close to that but obviously cost a lot more. Look at Footers recent post with milltek sports cats and stage 2 remap which netted him 745ps.

I had this problem and it failed the emissions test. They did the test last and the 100 cell filter had cooled down to much even tho the car was idling I went back in with the exhaust very warm and it passed no problems. The mot station told me for next time ask for the emissions test to be done first.
