Heres a strange one

Post by chandler99 » Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:41 pm

So, i had a blow out on my front left tyre wall (don't ask) so i got two new front Audi recommended conti's (RO1) 285/30 R21 Y (100) from Black Circles, had them fitted and also had the tracking checked (all ok). A week or so later having driven no more than 200 miles the car went into Audi for a warranty repair.

Fast forward just over two weeks and i got the car back and the tyre report shows the fronts down from 6.3 and 6.6mm. Is this normal? If the tread starts at 8mm?, then this seems a daft amount of wear for what can be no more than 2-300 miles..

Am i going mad?

No chance, they are 7.5mm new. Get out and measure them yourself if they are under 7mm there’s something fishy going on!

Probably an error on the tyre report.

Don't worry about it.
My tread depths actually went up in 6 months between health checks at Audi.
According to their reports anyway...

this can't be as bad as when i used Barons in kentish town for a service on my m5

I had put a brand new set of MSPs on my car 2 weeks earlier and at service time i got an advisory for worn tyres

Needles to say I kicked off and haven't been back
