Having recently bought a 2017 PE, I looked at sooooo many adverts over months, and misleading adverts drive me nuts. Here is a cracker.

Nice looking car. £28,000 worth of extras. B&O sound. What's not to like. Except, it doesn't have B&O (as clearly seen from the photos), and I must have way too much time on my hands as I just added up the extras and they come to £14,725. Even if they mistakenly included the £6,300 for B&O, then it's still miles off the claimed £28k extras total. This is poor advertising at best and deliberate false advertising to trick a buyer at worst. Really hate this sort of thing.

Here are the extras as I see them, and costs:

HUD - £1,240
Dynamic pack - £2,600
Gloss black styling pack - £980
Assistance pack - £2,100
Red calipers - £430
Advanced key - £750
21" Alloys - £2,000
Speed limit display - £250
Privacy glass - £390
Parking pack advanced - £1,310
Sports exhaust - £1,000
Pan roof - £1,300
Rear aide airbags - £375

TOTAL - £14,725

So, roughly half the extras costs they are claiming the car has. Rubbish!

So I looked again and found a few more options:

Night vision - £1,750
Dash cam - £649
Power door closure - £620
Audi smartphone interface - £250

So a further £3,269 making a grand total of £17,994. Still over £10k of imaginary extras fitted to this car.

Also don’t forget the £15k they probably got off it when new!

You’re not going to like this bit either, It doesn’t look like it has B&O

that car defo doesn't have B&O.. maybe they thought that's the standard due to selling an RS4 before where the B&O is fairly common, but agree it just plain lazy.

Definitely lazy, but even with the B&O there is still nowhere near £28k of extras on this car. Many people wouldn't do what I did and add them up so this is misleading advertising.

They are claiming £40,500 of options. I count more like £37,500 - but by any measure this is an incredible spec. Seems odd to me to spend ~£40k on extras but not buy a Performance model however.

Why not give them a call? As a minimum you can get the reg number and then call Audi spec line to confirm what's on the car - and IIRC they will also confirm the value.

That's likely to be much more productive that moaning to us lot!!

Not moaning, just highlighting bad advertising and sharing experiences as per what a forum is all about. I bought a car a few weeks ago so have no interest in these cars, but I looked for months and poured over so many adverts and it was rather common to find the car did not have the options listed. That's what I am highlighting to others.

You should email them and explain to them what you have explained to us and see what they say.

Sorry, wasn't having a go at you. But I get tired on this (and other) forums of people generally making complaints about others rather than to others.

If we all were to do this then there is a chance that the dealers would improve their act.

In this case one of the photo's states the extras at £28595 - the fact that they seem to have a precise number suggests that they have a list, and that maybe it's the description rather than the figure that's in error.

Anyway, good luck with your campaign!

I did email the seller and it seems they are merely quoting the number the previous owner told them. Hey ho.

The car is on a 65 plate. The Performance opened for orders at the start of December 2015 (might have been the last day of November). I ordered mine that week and took delivery 8 weeks later. It only just made it onto a 65 plate as I couldn't wait 2 weeks for a 16 reg. Mine was one of the first customer factory orders in the UK. So chances are when the original order went in for this car the Performance didn't exist yet.
And when it was released some dealers didn't want to sell it with the 15% discount that the non performance cars had.

And there's the answer right there. Thought that all those options but no PE was odd. Now it makes sense. Cheers Mike.

When I was looking to order a PE around Oct/Nov 2016 the £15k discount was standard across the board. Pretty sure with some hard haggling you could have got more off.

So some of the prices for nearly new or year old cars at dealers is crazy, you can guarantee there are some big margins.

I ordered mine in the opening week with a 15% discount. But some dealers thought the discount should only apply to non performance cars. So I went elsewhere.

Chill out. The trader is an independent, not an Audi specialist. I think the advert is simply a case of the independent dealer not knowing what is on it, and in turn trying to make it sound as attractive as possible on teh information he has been given. To be fair, how many people looking to drop £80k on an RS6 won't do their due diligence on the spec...

From what it says in the advert :

Plus two big things the advert says it has, which are normally visible, but I cannot see in the pictures:

Bang + Olufsen advanced sound system = £6,300.00

£27,895.00

There's much bigger things in the world to get worked up over than this.
