New wheel colour - but which colour to choose?!?

Further to my recent post - "Winter tyres or second set of wheels" (sorry, don't know how to link another post here), the wheels (fitted with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 winter tyres, spare summer tyres - P zeros, spacers and longer bolts all arrived today) - thanks si_b.

This is hardly a scientific test but on rolling one of the wheels up to the car for me at least there is just too much black going on.

So I am thinking about having the wheels stripped and powder coated - but which colour to choose? I know this is all down to personal taste and no doubt the all black look will appeal to some, but I don't think it's for me. Anyone else faced this dilemma on a black car? Anyone seen a colour combo that looks great for this wheel type? What do you think to a flat grey (gun metal grey sort of thing). I am clueless when it comes to colours so this could go badly wrong (you should see how I dress. The wife is always going on at me for my crap dress sense / colour clashes).

Any thoughts / ideas most welcome.

It's winter, they will become dark muddy grey whatever you do!
I'd just fit them and leave them then decide when you take them off next spring.

I hear you, and that is a factor, but I am pretty fussy (and clean my cars regularly) and don't want to be constantly walking up to the car thinking that I no longer like the look.

This. Get the trolley jack out and get 'em on! :beerchug:

I agree, gloss black looks too shiny. And I've always said black wheels on black cars don't work yet here I am with 2 sets of black wheels. The trouble is, you have no other colours on the car. My window trims and roof rails are titanium so titanium wheels still match.
Normally on a black car I'd go anthracite or gunmetal type colour.

But what have you got to lose by trying them on the car for a week or 2? You might be surprised.

Agree, get on with it and see how it fairs. My wheels are an anthracite colour and I think they look great so might be worth a thought. Maybe go all out and do them a different colour, bronze or very dark red :sekret:

Cheers

Maybe a different colour indeed. Bronze wheels work on a black Performante. Not sure about an RS6 though.

Quite like that. Is that your car? For me it would possibly get old rather quick though.

Don't have a jack or they would be on already. :D

True Mike, but perhaps that means a blank canvas. Black goes with everything after all. I do have the grey of the ceramic brakes to pick out perhaps.

If I wasn't so crap with things like photoshop I would mock up a bunch of different colours and put it to a vote.

No not my car, not sure I would be brave enough to go bronze but I do like it. Why would it get old quick? Same as any other wheel colour, and after all, they are just winters.

What about a funky candy apple or something like that? At least they tie in with your taillights.

I’m just throwing out suggestions that I think look good but wouldn’t do it myself, your RS6 is now my lab rat :sekret:

Cheers

Don't need photoshop;
Silver makes the 20s look too small in my opinion
The right type of black works
Don't like bronze
Dark grey works for me but i went with black both times. Look at my build thread when I painted my 21s black but they looked like a fancy grey. Maybe go for something like that.
Red, blue, green or any other colour will look odd.
