Heated seats stay on

Post by ab54666 » Sun Dec 02, 2018 1:12 am

This is the first car i've had where the heated seats remember where they were when you switched off, but only in the front.

Is this usual? Every other car i've ever had they would always be off on restart.

My RS6 does that too - and so does my Range Rover. I have only had the RS6 for a couple of weeks so haven't discovered the pattern yet (it may tell you in the manual - did you check that?) but I know that in the Range Rover it remembers the heated seat position if you come back to the car a short while after leaving it. Don't know how short exactly (and I haven't bothered to read that manual either!) but if I drive somewhere with the heated seats on, park up, and head off to the shops or whatever, when I get back and start the car heated seat will come back on where I left it. But if I say drive home with the heated seat on and park up overnight it's off when I start the car in the morning again. I just assumed the RS6 would do the same, but haven't tested it.

Are you noticing the heated seat is on where you left it even after being parked overnight?
Currently running:
18 plate Lamborghini Huracan Performante (5.2l of V10 naturally aspirated craziness)
67 plate RS6 Performance (fully loaded)
66 plate Range Rover Autobiography (for wafting around)
16 plate Mini Cooper S convertible (lots of fun but rather skittish when thrashed)

Favourite car ever owned:
1971 Citroen DS21 - The Goddess (pure art on wheels)

I suspect only the drivers side heats by default when on though. The front passenger seat will only heat when someone sat there. This is how earlier cars worked, so image the C7 will have kept that refinement.

I thought if on the highest setting it reduces after a while but the lowest setting will stay on forever. This is useful for me with my remote start so it can warm up car and seat before I get in.

Yes driver's seat will heat without being occupied, but not passenger (this is on a B8, would assume true on later cars as well).

This morning the drivers seat was still on (Full), so approximately 14 hours later.

Will check manual EDIT - manual only says that after 10 minutes on full power the seat heating reduces from 3 to 2.

This correct, max recudes to medium.
minimum will stay on forever. I can leave the heated seat on with one key then not use it again for months and when I do use that key again the heated seat is still on. Forget 14 hours, it'll stay like that forever.

Not sure what happens if you leave it on medium though. Never tried that.
