Tyre noise supression systems

I’m about to order some new tyres, the tyres without noise supression material in them are just iver £200 each and the same tyres with the noise supression are about £300.

My tyres to date have all had noise supression.

Does anybody think the noise supression makes a difference?

Nope. I run Michelins that don't have any noise suppression and they sound the same as all the oem tyres to me. However, I am not one who is sensitive to such things. My exhaust or stereo will drown out any tyre noise. In fact I can't believe people even discuss tyre noise as ever an issue on any car. I just don't get it.

Having just swapped out my Dunlops and found some had, and some didn't have the noise suppression (ie a strip of foam) and replaced with four new MPS4S without any noise suppression I'd agree it's not worth it.

I'm more worried that you are getting £200 tyres - put the best on there and stay safe (and having fun!)

I don’t wish to come across as defensive, however the tyres are Dunlop Wintersport 3D (R01). So I’m hoping they’re good enough? (Even at £200).

The noise supression versions are circa £60 each more.

200 for winter tyres sounds like a bargain. I have no experience of these tyres but Dunlop winters are generally considered as decent.
