Newbie question - Audi Connect

Folks, sorry if this is a dumbo question but is Audi Connect there as standard - you just need to take out a subscription / put in a sim card? The car in question is a 2017 PE.
I cannot see Audi Connect on the RS6 Configurator (unless it's hidden as part of a package with a different name).
Cheers.

According to the Tinterweb and Camberley Audi when I went there this week for just this reason, Audi UK still aren't charging for the Connect service. Your car should have the facility as standard to my knowledge, but you will need to either go into your nearest dealership, explain that you are the new owner and that you want to get the Audi Connect renewed to your car, or try calling the Myaudi team I guess.
It tends to take 24-48 hours for the subscription to be renewed/reactivated
Have you set up a myaudi account/downloaded the app etc?

Connect isn't there as standard - easy to tell if you have it as it will be there in the settings in your MMI....mine is a December 2017 PE and connect specced as an option - although I find it to be utter Sh1te. Not interested in reading the news, sending a tweet or seeing the airport arrivals board!! Google Maps is ok but tend to use Waze in any event.

Love the 1 word review. Cheers. I have all sorts of crap like that on my Range Rover. Next used it once.
Presumably even if it needs to be specified as an option it will be software enabled on the MMI so there should be a path to retro-upgrade the software?!?

Maybe in part but in paying for the option you’re paying for the service so you’d need Audi to enable their end to.

Not sure if connect can be retro fitted as I was told no on my 2015 car - you should have a play with it before rinsing hundreds on it, if it can be retro fitted. I go back to my 1 word review

You're kidding, even that is a bloody option on one of these? I stand corrected.
I have only got it reactivated and a £10/month SIM for it for Google maps and the possibility of traffic overlay/avoidance. Well, that and to bark at the wife if she doesn't link her phone when driving.

No, it's a hardware change as cars without the option don't have a SIM card slot between the SD card readers. Which is the easiest way to tell if you have it.
Personally I find it very useful. Not only do you get Google maps but you also get Google search for sat nav so instead of a postcode getting me to the right area I get Google maps taking me to the exact entrance. It also creates a WiFi hot spot so the kids can get online with their ipad for those long journeys. And I can look up an address on my phone then send it to the cars sat nav for a trip later. No need to look it up on the car just retrieve it from my list on online destinations.

Thanks for that. I was hoping they all had a sim card slot regardless of build (make and receive calls from/to the car as opposed to your mobile connected to the car) and then it would be a software update to enable Connect. Oh well. I would have wanted it for the same reasons you list.

Thanks for the info Mike, really useful for this C7 n00b too. I get the car back from gearbox service and resonator delete today, so will stick the SIM in and have a play, cheers.
Sorry to hear you got stiffed Zappy, I am amazed it was an option on this
