False alarm

Post by MountainMutant » Wed Nov 07, 2018 11:16 am

Morning

I have a 2117 PE and the alarm keeps going off every couple of days for no apparent reason.

Can't see any spiders inside the car so no idea what is setting it off. Is there a way of telling what the cause is?

I've had alarms in the past that would flash the lights a number of times on re entry so you knew the alarm had gone off and what had caused it.

It doesn't help that last night I had an obvious attempt at a guy casing my place out so now a bit paranoid.

A friend of mine had a similar issue on his 2012 A6 with the alarm going off all of the time. His A6 had received a new wiring loom so assumed it was gremlins. Best thing is have Audi look at it.

However, if you have unwanted interest in the car I would be extra vigilant...
RS6 PE - Current
RS4 (B8.5) 2015 - Sold
A4 3.0 TDI Quattro BE Avant - Gone
Focus ST170 - Garaged

Mine started doing the same whilst I was away for a month so it started to drain the battery. Audi assist first sent the AA who advised it was the battery and that I need to drive the car more to charge it. Anyway I drive it every day and the problem came back. Audi assist sent a proper Audi technician who knew of the issue and sorted it with a software update.
