They should have given you mitigation for the fact that you were driving an RS6 and ONLY doing 98 really

That’s a good result. I got a marginally smaller fine and one point more for a lower speed.

Have you all seen what's coming soon! More nanny state nonsense.

I find this just crazy and very irritating. From the post above:
You can override the system in certain circumstances. An example of this would be if you’re overtaking on a road where there’s a decrease in speed limit.

After alerting you, the car will automatically start to slow down. By pushing down hard on the accelerator, you can override the system in order to complete the manoeuvre safely
So mid way through an overtake my 2022 RS6 starts to slow down, to continue to overtake (safely) I need to mash the loud pedal to the floor. At some point the system will realise I’m trying to override it, and then, boom full beans send me straight in to the hedge.

While not wishing to underplay the cataclysmically imbecilic nature of this proposed legislation, I am confident the vehicle manufacturers will implement this feature in such a way that it won't be an "all or nothing" approach to power delivery on override.

But, although there is the promise of an ability to switch the function off at the beginning of the journey (only to have it automatically "re-arm" itself at the next ignition cycle), the law-makers are talking about making the disable function deeply buried within the infotainment system to discourage access.

My wife (who works in the industry) has spoken to a few car manufacturers about this, and the general consensus seems to be that this could be devastating to the European car industry. The effect will be to cull interest in anything beyond a basic-spec vehicle with the bare minimum powertrain configuration. It seems a reasonable outlook. I mean, why bother with anything beyond a basic 1500cc?

Did you see that some irritating idiot in this country (probably from BRAKE - I didn't catch their name properly) said that we should also have a function preventing quick acceleration from standstill in order to prevent traffic light drag racing?
