Ooops - had an NIP through the post - M5 Southbound Sunday, between Jcn 5 and Jan 6 - they look are large yellow rectangular boxes on the side of the gantries - assumed they were variable speed limit cameras

Those cameras which are positioned on the side of the gantries are supposedly always on. There is a load of them on M1 past jct25 heading north.

yep always on (regardless of variable speed limit being shown) - they are the hadecs cameras that are going up everywhere on the smart motorways

Waze is pretty good at telling you about them if you have it

Not the Aps fault, phone or phone case is your issue there I'd have thought.

Waze works perfectly good for me, all over the country.

As above, these are everywhere now. Conventional speed camera which covers all lanes.

98 is going to burn! Get the KY ready.

I’d take that. 2mph more and it’s a different equation.

Easily done , we all have our moments , I was 105/70 in my SVR was £1000 and 6 points . It's all based on your situation, mine was clear traffic in good conditions that's what they said then proceeded to take my grand and told me to get out

It’s not speed that is dangerous, it’s careless driving (with the use of speed in some cases). I don’t see the money being invested into more regular and thorough driving tests, or the like.
Those new cameras at the side of the gantry flash and are more a hazard to the other directions traffic.

Lucky it was under 100 though. It only takes a few seconds in powerful car like these. I don’t see manufacturers being prevented from making quicker and quicker cars.

I never speed in built up areas but the motorways at 70 are just crazy . It's just a generic blanket limit for every sheep on the road it's the only way I guess, I mean the roads of just full of complete idiots that wonder about the roads clueless .. Make the tests harder and put the road tax up already ! Rant over

Biggest problem IMO is that 99% of people haven’t been on a motorway till after they’ve passed their test - madness!

Agree the limit should be higher. Our roads are too <beep> to go the autobahn derestricted route - but I’d think the limit should be 80-85mph, with the usual 10% + 2 leniency (so up to 90 or 95.5 before points and fine).

Fat chance though!
