Vibration 75-80mph

Post by DaytonaMatt » Wed Sep 19, 2018 10:28 am

Whilst driving I noticed I sometimes get a vibration around 75-80mph. I think it goes away after that but I didn't get a chance to really test that out (on a private road, of course..)

Car came with new discs and pads so wondering if it could be related, but a little confused by it being intermittent... anyone else experience this?

As it's speed related I would suspect the vibration is coming from one of the wheel not being balanced correctly or being slightly out of shape.

I test drove a Daytona PE via Derby Audi back in Feb that had a vibration between 75 - 80mph. It was definitely a greater vibration that what would be caused by a wheel weight or two missing. I think the reg was VX16...

Wheel balance or wheel buckle by the sound of it.

I had the same and a rebalance sorted it.

I had the same - dealer checked wheel alignment and tracking then said wheels were buckled. Had two front wheels replaced, balanced and still had a fine vibration afterwards. Dealer then said it could be the tyres. So in reality it could be one of five things...

Why don't you just take it to a tyre specialist and have them balanced up.

I had similar on my previous C6 had all the wheels checked. Turned out it was the prop shaft which when replaced no vibration

Honestly? Purely because my local place will charge £25 a wheel, and given it's just had discs and pads done I can get it back to Audi FOC under warranty if that makes sense? A bit tight I know

It won't be FOC unless it's related to the brakes. They will charge you £60 diagnostic fee if it's your wheels and or tyres.

I would take it to your nearest Hunter Road Force to get the diagnosis and, hopefully, remedy in one hit. www.balancemycar.co.uk

Unless its a non-wheel related issue, or a buckled wheel issue in which case it goes another route of warranty I guess

Not sure how many people have managed a claim for buckled wheels.

Pay for a hunter alignment and balance. It transforms the car from stock and sorts out speed related balance issues.
