Parking heater (UK)

Has anyone installed an aftermarket parking heater in their RS? Winter is approaching and I leave rather early and it would be kinder to the neighbours if my car was defrosted prior to my departure without the engine running for too long
Any links to a suitable product?

Looking at the Audi website it appears the auxiliary heater is available for Q2 and A3 models only. However, further searching on Google suggests it could be done from 12V supply on a timer - unofficial part.

Love this idea!
No one does an after market product that you can just chuck in the boot to heat up inside the car?

Years ago I had a 12v heater in the boot, I had the car reversed up to the garage with a power supply on a timer in the garage, it worked like a dream

Did you ever drive off before remembering to disconnect it?

Yes, quite a few times

but I planned for that and the connector easily pulled apart.

If it's just a 12v fan heater you want then there are loads about. See
https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/ ... eIEALw_wcB for eample.
But if you are going to have to plug in an external charger, why not just buy a mains fan heater and plug that in??

I didn't want to have a 240v lead and plug outside, the 12v didn't matter if it got wet or damp.

You can keep both ends of an extension lead dry by simply keeping the socket inside the car, and the plug in the garage. Then all you have is a cable outside.
Plug in electrical heaters (mains) are common in Scandinavia, as are block heaters etc - all mains powered.
Of course, it does slightly up the ante if you drive off without unplugging!
