Evening men.
Just wanted to get an opinion. Do I need new discs? I have grooves running around all the discs but there totally symmetrical. I saw 3 other cars before I purchased mine and they all had the same grooves showing on the discs. I get a very very slight vibration when braking from very high speeds but nothing serious at all.
Do I need new discs???
Re: Do I need new discs???
The grooves on your discs are nothing to worry about, this is normal for steel discs especially drilled discs. The only real way to tell if new discs are required is getting a vernier caliper and measuring the thickness of the disc. If its below the minimum thickness then you need to replace them.
The Vibration under braking is a little more of an issue as it could indicate 1 (or more) of your discs could be warped. 1 of my front discs warped pretty badly and braking (especially from high speed) became very interesting indeed as my vibration was pretty bad.
The vibration could also be just a build up of pad material on the disc surface but by the look of the pictures above, this isnt the case and the vibration would tend to go away after a couple of high speed brake applications once the pad material is worn off.
