Newbie

Hello All,

Already posting in the wrong place but.... I have just purchased an almost new RS7 Performance and am looking for a bit of advice please.

I am not new to RS models, far from it, they have been my daily driver for 15 years or more. I have never modified any of them though. 20 years ago, long before Paul Walker and his crew, I imported a nearly new stock Supra and modified that but things were much more, lets say, mechanical back then. That car was bullet proof but in the same era 'chipped' cars were failing fast.

I totally accept that technology has advanced and the remapping will have improved and the durability of the cars we drive will have improved also.

So whilst I am not looking to advance further than a stage 2 upgrade at the moment, can people offer some first hand opinions regarding reliability at each stage please........

My car still benefits from the majority of the warranty, what are members experiences when taking the car to the garage. ie Do we know for example if they connect the car to their computer and it informs the tech of ECU modifications or is it something that they have to go looking for?

As I understand it, the stage 2 upgrade requires an exhaust upgrade. Is the Audi factory 'cost option' sports exhaust of any benefit in this scenario?

Is the APR tune the best or simply the one that seems to get the most exposure?

Lastly, and thanks for your patience, can anyone recommend a long established Audi tuner in the North? I am quite centrally located so the M62 corridor is fine or southbound as far as Nottingham.

Thanks a million.

Loads of threads on this, check out the RS6 forum.

In short yes, apply a map and this will be flagged.

The Audi akra exhaust is cat back only so will be of no benefit. To really get any benefit you need to bin the cats.

Reliability wise, tuned cars seemed to blow as many engines as standard cars so no real indication that tuning will make it more likely, however if it is modified and it goes pop be ready to stump up a load of money to get it fixed cos pretty sure Audi won't pay for it.

MRC Tuning have won Audi Gold Tuner of the year for the past 10 years or so. However they are down in Banbury so may be off your map - personally I would say it's worth the day trip down there.

They only offer "Stage 2" which means it's a map optimised for your car rather than a generic (stage 1) map. They will also want to put in high performance fuel pumps to ensure that you don't have fuel starvation problems affecting the injector pattern and wrecking your engine.

Give Ben and Doug a call - you won't regret it!

Dave

PS - FON!
