My newley acquired 2014 RS6 at 30K miles looks as though it could do with some new discs (front and rear) and possibly tyres.

Has anyone any experience of working with aftermarket discs and pads or should I avoid like the plague?

Also wondering what the latest tyre of choice is? Currently fitted with Continental CSC 5P's. I don't have any complaints about them but think Dunlops may be a little quieter. I hate P-Zeros from previous experience. What about Michelins etc?

No experience with aftermarket discs and pads, though if thats the original set, then she's had a nice easy life.

Had Michelin SPSS on my 2015 6 - great tyre and great value from Costco too, especially when they have offers on
Have P-Zeros on the 2017 PE and they are sh1te. Can't wait for them to wear out.

Mich PS4S would be my default choice having run them on my C5 Beast.

You don't say whether you have 20" or 21" wheels, but if the latter you will have to go to 295 which I understand fit, and will only throw the speedo out by a few percent.

If you have 21s and don't want to go with 295s then the normal sized MPSS are a popular choice. Obviously they don't have the noise suppression foam stuff like the Audi approved Conti, p zeros and Dunlop but personally I don't pick a tyre because it is quieter than another.
I'm still on my original discs but have Ferrodo DS2500 pads up front and Goodridge braided hoses a round.
A guy I know tried aftermarket discs and although they were rubbish they didn't improve anything. He ended up getting ceramics. So from that and I think MRC said the same that you either fitted braided hoses and aftermarket pads or go ceramic. Aftermarket discs don't really add much.

One of the reasons I asked about after market discs is that they seem much more reasonably priced than the OEM ones. I've always believed you get what you pay for hence the question. However, there's also a reasonable limit to getting what you pay for and £2000 to have Audi replace the discs and pads seems unreasonably excessive. They're not ceramic brakes so I genuinely don't understand that price. I thought it was bad enough when Mercedes wanted £1000 to replace a £14 fuel filter.

While I'm undecided, could someone please confirm what size the discs are front and rear.

It's called RS tax, you'll see it a lot.
front discs are 390mm. Can't recall how thick they are but Google is your friend here but I think they are 36mm.

I found these on eBay after a quick search. Don’t know if they really are genuine and exact same that Audi supply but worth looking into I think

That looks like a good price for front discs. I was quoted by Crewe Audi last week at £770 for discs and £325 for pads. Just fronts...

I must have been eating or smoking something a bit odd when I looked at the brakes. While it was being detailed yesterday, I could see clearly the discs have hardly any lip at all.
