Methanol now fitted (800+ bhp)

Post by finance-nick » Wed Jul 25, 2018 10:15 pm

Hi All,

Thought id share my meth pics, install was a breeze and is really pulling hard now. Before the meth install we got 750 bhp from a MRC stage 2+ (with a 33c dyno room) so with meth fitted now too should be making over 800 bhp, will get it dyno'd again to confirm exactly what but overall im happy with the mods to date. Its truly the best car ive ever owned by far.

Does anyone know the range of upgraded turbo's available for our cars? as want to go bigger turbo's and reach 950 bhp

How much did it cost and who did the installation? Quite impressive numbers!
My friends M6 is running meth and he loves it, did 206 IIRC at V Max a few months ago

Devils own is best kit i rekon, all inc fittings and heat wrap was about £900 + £250 fitting, should remove the need to uprate the under performing standard charge cooler

Is the methanol mixed with water in the tank? I would not want a pure methanol tank in my cabin.

Shake the bottle couldn't be mounted somewhere out the way. Is there no room under the floor cover?

Nice - though I think I would want to find a tank that could be fitted in the spare wheel well - rather less obtrusive.

Is probably a misleading shot (too zoomed in) but it was carefully chosen as its a very slim tank and does not get in my way personally. Also the pump has to be physically located below the tank so we saw some fitment issues as my air compressor system is under boot floor etc etc.

Will prob mix a bit of water in too just in case any rear passengers light up a cigarette :)

I admire what you are doing but, having just returned from a jaunt to the Welsh borders (where roads are wonderfully open, curvaceous and quiet) and given it plenty of welly on some lovely country stretches, I am struggling to find enough open space to really exploit my measly 552bhp. The rev counter rarely sees the upper reaches and then only for one or two gears before it is necessary to rope in the behaviour due to a lack of road. I have my bong set to 100 and it goes off often enough to know that there is little more fun to be had without going into the realms of making the ten o'clock news for one reason or another.

I could probably make us of any extra 50-80bhp (just to crispen up the throttle response), but I wouldn't know what to do with an extra 300-400.

Unless you are just doing this for the drag strip? (or the post-barrier exit space from the M6 toll, which is the closest I get to Santa Pod)

Is vented through a special cap on tank

I fully understand that, i almost felt the same when i first got the car "why would i need more power" BUT when is enough enough, is great fun too + we do run at events like VMAX and Santa Pod etc
