Modifying the plate holder with new screw holes won't be easy as the holder has recessed channels that the screws sit in.
Dremel?
In my opinion it would be easier to modify a long facelift holder than try to make a short pre facelift one fit.
Agreed...

Just went back to the beginning to see if there was a photo of the holder to show you the screw holes then saw this picture. It looks so good there, you should all remove your plates altogether.
Edit; baah the original picture doesn't show up in quote!

Looks like ones solved this issue by 3d Printing some small brackets and then just using some number plate tape to attach it on - Genius and only £13!

Thanks for that find.

Just purchased a set to see if it works on my RS4. I've got a spare plinth but know that'll take a year for me to get around to cutting down, filling and re-painting.

I've just had all the badges done gloss black, and the plate has just been off . It was suppose to be just the day but a week later it's still off 🙈 love it . I'm going to have to get it back on as the front plate is that short it's just going to draw attention if pulled .

I made my own in aluminium, then painted it black. The three recesses are for the double sided tape.
It was a bit of a pain bending it to follow the shape of the grill reasonably well.ImageImage

Looks good. Do you have a pic with it on the car?

i tracked down one for the Hong Kong market via my local Audi dealer. The plate is small but it looks great, hopefully the boys in blue will leave me alone!

Got around to fitting these the other day on my B8 RS4, should be the same for you C7 RS6 guys. They work, I decided to rotate them to the horizontal position, although they could work in either orientation. My thinking for horizontal position was to support the plate more across it's width, as I'm also using a reduced 3/4 size plate.

Any way here is a compiled picture, showing my 3 plate size options. I'm running with the top at the moment.

Top) 3/4 size with legal motorcycle/import lettering, using the eBay plate brackets - Legal plate, just not on my vehicle.
Middle) Standard full size with legal lettering and border using the Audi plate holder.
Bottom) Custom sized plate to minimize white area, fixed using the eBay plate brackets - 100% legal with all spacing and lettering correct.

What he said.

Would be great to see that close up. Any chance you could post that pic on its own so we can zoom in. :beerchug:
