After over two years of ownership, I’ve just figured out, I can close the tailgate by using the drivers door open button....

So now, it’s an Open/Close button, not just an open button I’ve been used to for two years.... 🤭

Mine does

£16 Carista Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and Bob’s your uncle!

(My car now also remembers the last status of the stop/start).

Oh!!... I’d be interested in finding out more about uncle Bob.

I’ll do a search, but any links would be nice.

Plug in to car, download app, link via Bluetooth then you can run diagnostics, change settings etc.

You need to be stood behind the car. Press and hold the boot button until it starts closing.

Closing from the key is part of the advanced key. If you don't have advanced key you can programme it with VCDS. Might work with carista too.

I have mine set to open with a long press (as normal) but close on a quick press.

Going out to car now to check

Maybe I’m about to learn something new again (after over 2 years ownership....)

I have a suspicion there is a difference in behaviour between US and EU models. I don’t think the EU models can remotely close (without reprogramming) - most likely a safety law against it.
