After 12 plus years of C5 ownership, today I picked up my C7 :rocker:

Exclusive Nogaro blue Performance. Bit of a change from Daytona! Getting used to the size but makes the C5 feel slow!

No doubt I'll have many questions!

Hi Mutant - welcome across the great divide!! I agree with all your points - though I take it you didn't have to extend your garage as I did!! :boots:

The speed thing is weird - it does feel quite a bit faster, yet the 0-60 times are only tenths quicker than mine was (can't remember if yours was mapped??).

Anyway, 250 miles in mine yesterday - effortless, very quick, and a grin on my face all the way there and back! :FIREdevil:

Welcome

You'll be able to join this lot, Edition Noggy, seen here at this years Simply Audi Rally at Beaulieu in April !

Oh, and "0-60 times are only tenths quicker " - is that published times or real world actual times?

Enjoyed the car over the weekend. 8)

One thing I would say it's very quite compared to the C5 when just on tickover. Sounds great when opening her up but the rumble's not there when standing still.

Can this be sorted or is it because it's running on less cylinders when standing still?

Disconnect the exhaust valves or Cete/milltek valve control module perhaps? Force the valves open when you want them?

I did the valve control module and have a Milltek Road+ catback. With the valves open it’s vicious on cold start and blipping the throttle, and does sound good on tick over; but I would still agree that it’s very quiet on tick over (especially inside). Guess that’s just the design of the engine. I came from a B7 RS4 with non-res, non-valved milltek and that was epic, even on tickover! Sadly don’t think that can be matched. However you can’t miss this one’s bark now!

A bit of both I guess. My C5 was Stage 2 mapped and running a high torque map with a US built gearbox. I'm not into running standing starts etc though I did get a mate to video a couple of 0-60 runs which were around the 4 sec mark several years ago.

Probably more important to me is the subjective feel. There are a few places where I regularly have a good drag off a roundabout (so a rolling start) and as I said below it definitely "feels" quicker. How much of this is the better handling (so the exit speed from roundabout is higher to start with), and how much is the extra power and mid-range torque I don't really know.

Very happy with the performance as stock, but when the Audi warranty expires at the end of this year I shall probably take it up to see Doug - it would be rude not to!! :FIREdevil:

PS - and I miss the old Miltek rumble too - as do the neighbours and my wife who complains she can't tell it's me coming up our hill like she used to be able to! :boots:

The C5 certainly did sound nice on tick over with a Milltek 👍 I’ve never quite managed to get the same sound the C6 wasn’t and my C7 isn’t either and trust me I’ve tried. I think I should have bought shares in Milltek 😂😂😂

Using the steering wheel controls you can look at average and instantaneous fuel consumption and it will show you when the car is running on 4 cylinders - unlikely on idle on start-up.

The car will never be on 4 cylinders at idle in my experience but could be wrong.
Chop out the front and centre resonators for a couple of hundred quid and make the car sound like to should have from the factory. Not too anti social and Not far from milltek sound and OEM build quality for a fraction of the price.
