C7 RS6- MRC 710map and reliability

Post by crashley » Thu Jun 14, 2018 6:02 pm

I’ve just pxd my B7 RS4 Avant for a ‘14 RS6 Avant that’s got a Stage 2 MRC map to c710bhp.

Anything I need to be aware of re topping up oil (like the old B7) and should I be comfortable leaving it with that map or look to return to standard? It’s a beautiful one owner vehicle which has otherwise always been at Audi and seems in fine fettle.

Cheers
Ash

Returning it to standard won’t remove evidence of the map!

Not doubting that for a second, just want to make sure it’s kept that way. It is an absolutely cracking car and I can’t bloody wait to collect it.

No super powers I'm afraid, I just recognise the wording used to describe the car.

To try and answer your questions Ash, you're likely to be amazed how your next car sips oil compared to the B7 RS4 you're parting company with probably gulped 500-1000ml per 1000 miles - a much more comfortable feeling and quite a saving too. Why return it, map wise. Is it still under Audi warranty? Probably not. If it is and Audi would know anyway, if there was a problem that Audi could blame on the map, but they would know it had been mapped previously even if you removed the map, what would be gained. The previous owner would have had all the fun of the added improvement and you not, just the possible negatives. On that subject, any car standard or otherwise could be unlucky enough to have major problems, but this forum doesn't seem to be full of re-mapped C7s with map related problems. The C7 RS6 is awesome as standard and generally staggering when re-mapped well and MRC are very highly thought of in that regard. Sounds like Mike knows the car and has given his endorsement, so just enjoy; I'm sure you will.

Hope to hear how you get on. When is that by the way?

Perfect, that's what I wanted to hear!

It's technically still under and Audi warranty, but I would imagine they'd prob question any engine related work due to the map (if not any claim tbh!) - I will prob extend in the hope of peace of mind for DRC, etc but I may be clutching at straws there.

Collect next Tuesday eve, would have been sooner but mine was booked for a service and I'd be happier my car went away with a full bill of health.

The C7 is a cracking, cracking car.

It's a little more 'pimpy' than i'd normally go for but it is lovely in the flesh. I'll prob buy a set of orignal wheels too.

Congrats on the purchase - funny enough I am in the exact same position as you. Just about to pick up my Stage 2 RS6 - absolutely mint and flawlessly kept. Have toyed with reverting to standard as it will be a family wagon and reliability in mind but it has been modified by a reputable place and I will have an ex Audi Master tech just give it a once over for a peace of mind.

Enjoy it mate! I plan to with mine....the extra ponies should be fun.
