RS6 Double Injector Failure

Post by Kirky » Thu May 24, 2018 1:52 pm

5 weeks ago I pulled into Southwaite when I noticed a slight misfire on my 2014 RS6 (33,000 miles). Returning to my car after a coffee it struggled to start but I did manage to get it going and I headed back to home, Glasgow on reduced power. I noticed I was not getting any boost from the turbos (limp mode?). There was no warning light, i.e. no indication of an engine malfunction. When I pulled into a hotel carpark just off the M74 the yellow engine management light came on for about 5 seconds then went off, then the car cut out and struggled to start. Cutting the story short Audi Assistance took the car into Glasgow Audi and 3 weeks later they told me that 2 fuel injectors have failed, the engine has to come out and 20hrs of labour will cost a total of £3,900. My warranty has run out (9 months ago), I did not take extended warranty but luckily did extend the assistance package. What I find unusual is that 2 fuel injectors have failed at the same time? My concern - is this a bad batch of injectors, when they put the engine back in what is the likelihood of another injector failing. I'd welcome some thoughts and has anyone else experienced this issue? 6 weeks on I'm still waiting to get my car back from Glasgow Audi.

Personally if it are indeed the injectors, i would let an independant but respected 'non stealer' garage perform the engine pull and while she is out....replace all injectors just to be sure.
*But a bit very early/low milage to have injector issues imho :s.

...or you could ultra sonic clean the current injectors or what ever is the term they use to clean them and test them.
If it are indeed the injectors and with that less milage, i suspect poor quality gas might play a roll in it :s?

Problem is, having the injectors checked/cleaned isn't cheap, and you really need a good company to carry it out.
