Afternoon all,

I'm off to the ring in a few months and was wondering if anyone can share any experience on how well these cars handle the ring? I'm not after setting a lap record or anything, just appreciate any real world insight.

Just come back from trip to spa-francorchamps for the wec opener last week then on the sunday morning took the rs round the ring for a couple of laps ! One word. Brakes !! Standard steel brakes and a heavy car with many corners ?? They get a bit juddery by wipperman 😫😫. Next time ceramics for me.

Certainly good fun though and where you can, you can fly past lots of cars. Remember though a local in a e36 bmw estate is still going to be faster than you !! Hundreds of laps gives them the edge.. and you still gotta drive it home Great fun and highly recommend the trip

You'll be fine in the RS6, if as you say you're not looking to set any records. Just take note of the above & play nicely.

Very easy to get drawn into a race with some snotter that doesn't deserve to be even close to a 600bhp Monster, however they'll know the track & thus be minutes quicker in their shed. Let anything that's approaching from behind go past & enjoy the ride.

Always keep your wits about you as the place unfortunately is a mecca for <beep>, so best to keep out of their way. Be prepared for multiple closures if it's busy, but this is a good time to go & mooch around the car parks & take in the atmosphere.

Apologies, i thought your question was more generic rather than specific to the RS6.

If you've hauled an M5 Touring round Nordschleife many times & a B8 RS4, then i doubt you'll need to think about anything differently in a C7 RS6.

Closed day with circuit days (£550) very much worth the money as there were no idiots. 14 laps, warped steel brakes. Suspect it's because I didn't have the TC fully off so it was grabbing rear tyres going round bends. (3 laps was the most I did at once), always took the car off the track then out for a 15 minute cool down until the brakes stopped ticking. 1mm tread taken off, tyres started to melt. An indicated 178mph on the back straight (then hit the limiter hard).

Keep a close eye on your tyre temperatures & pressure, I had to take pressure out the tyres 3 times to bring them back to the correct pressure after hot laps.

It is ridiculous how good it was considering it's a 2 tonne barge.

Cheers, was a little concerned as its a big car but the suggestions are fab.

Best mod for track use, braided brake hoses. Also make sure that the holes in your disks are clean before you go. I'm going the weekend of the 11/12th Aug.
