RS6chris! you may well be right in your firmly held view that remapping will always leave indelible traces and I certainly agree that anyone having their car modified in this way should be prepared for the possibility of potentially big bills if things go wrong. Some specialists in this field certainly are better at mapping than others, as frequent earlier testimony on this forum makes clear. I certainly don't know enough about computer memory in general or modern cars' CPUs, and how much data they gather and for how long they keep it in particular. So I don't know for sure myself what can be revealed to a keen investigator. There was definitely less information stored in the past and it wouldn't surprise me at all if manufacturers are in a tech war to make it ever harder to hide remapping. If one thing is increasingly clear these days it is that data is less secure than we would like to believe and almost anything can be hacked it seems, so there is probably no room for complacency on either side.
"Shooting the messenger" - don't think so. I was just pointing out to Singhaa88 that living in the south he might like to consider DMS and talk to them if he hadn't already.

Hi, I had my RS6 Performance remapped by DMS Automotive of Totton, Southampton, 15 months ago and haven't regretted it for a minute. Six months or so before I went to a nearby Supercar Sunday and had a passenger ride in a McLaren 650S (a donation went to a local hospice). The owner, who happened to come from Kent, had had it remapped by DMS and told me about them; he was very pleased. Shortly after I had them remap my partner's new Mini Cooper S and it jumped from 189 BHP to a fantastic 265 BHP. I was well impressed with the care they took and so not long after I got my new C7 I had them remap that. As they predicted, BMW Mini never new the Cooper S had been touched when it went in for servicing. Audi UK would know changes had been made if they were to connect to the car's OBD Port so either I go to DMS or they come to me beforehand and flash it back to its OEM state and then, after its back from Audi, they reload the remap - so far so good.

Well worth looking at their website and giving Rob (the brains there) a call. They can come out to you, wherever you are in the country (or abroad), but obviously they would need to have the car at their premises if they were to get it onto the dyno. I don't think you would be disappointed, I've not been.

Cheers, Richard
He asked DMS to re-map a McLaren? Brave.
Brave, but true. I was surprised myself, but DMS confirmed to me they had worked on the McLaren and the owner was certainly very pleased with it.

I am not saying there aren't risks: obviously if you use the extra power and torque you are putting more load on many mechanical parts (don't push the power too far and don't do endless launches). It wouldn't surprise me if manufacturers do enough digging they could find evidence for DMS's, MRC's or any one else's remapping for that matter. I have had work done by both over the years and there are no real guarantees. I can report Audi has had my car in several times and nothing has flagged up yet. I am well aware if something major went they may dig deeper and then I may end up paying for the repair and it might cost a lot, but as with most things in life "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime". I do know DMS have satisfied returning customers with BMWs, Porsches, Nissans and even Ferraris (see what's parked outside on the website images).

It often as Tuners are competitive & their Customers are uber loyal gets missed, but DMS for as long as i can recall tune BMW M's, Audi RS's & AMG's as pretty much the base of their work (bread & butter). They are the preferred tuner for the 911 Cup Series, have tie up's with McLaren/Porsche & Lambo, are the Tuner of choice for the Lambo Underground Racing builds & work at the very top end of the motoring genre. This among other reasons is why i've for the last 10yrs, not used anyone else for any of my cars (excluding APR on my current Golf R, as i felt taking a Golf to them was far too lowly:))

This doesn't take anything away from MRC/Litchfield & the like, as they tend to specialise in the cars 'we' own, which adds it's own comfort/security,

You say car had been in and nothing flagged? It won’t unless you try and claim, or it may but service advisor won’t say anything until you try to claim believe me.

Audi spend billions on development....I don’t believe for one minute that ANY tune can not be detected if they dig hard enough.

A very good friend of mine is head of service at a big VW dealer where I live.

He’s has had scores of Golf R through all running tuning boxes, remaps etc etc all with failures that haven’t been paid out due to mapping and tuning boxes. He tells me even the maps theta have been “removed” flag up!!

Don’t shoot the messenger.
100% correct. I've had many cars tuned over the years & have had some fairly significant Warranty Claims that have been accepted, however that is down to my relationship with the Dealer, the fact on most occasions they knew in advance the car had been breathed on & likely the most significant, none of my claims have been for a detonated engine (although one was a transmission).

I play by the rules that if i don't go mad with the work done, then the major components can more than cope with the uplift. Of course no guarantee & also the reason i'd only use highly reputable & trusted components, along with only using people i know well to supply these & do the work on my car.

I actually think DMS are worth a shout, they mapped my M2.. I have to say I’m impressed with the extra power, and how it’s applied.
