Re: After Market discs
What was wrong with the standard discs? Mine have done 24k and still going.
some people have reported aftermarket discs didn't perform any better so best choice is to use better pads and fluid or retrofit ceramics.

Re: After Market discs
Should be plenty of AP Racing Discs that different manufacturers use.
Re: After Market discs
I would stay standard. 30 k out of my fronts and rears still got another 10-20k in them.

Re: After Market discs
Just that I'm coming up to 27k miles and have developed some brake judder. And heard there's a lot of problems with warping on the standard discs.
Mostly the judder is braking from 60 when more on the cold side.

Re: After Market discs
That is because your discs are on the way out at 27k. Not unusual for front discs to be shot and original pads to still have life. Measure the disc thickness.
Makes your comment re not lasting 5 minutes look a bit daft

Re: After Market discs
5 mins seem the norm on other threads i thought i had a good set to those people. just needing new ones and asked what other options are out there.
Re: After Market discs
Just be careful if you go after market. You might end up being worse off. Perhaps better the devil you know....
Also hunt around for prices. Some parts depts will give big discounts. Audi Stoke and Crewe often v competitive on eBay. I bought a full set of discs, pads and sensors for £1195 from Stoke (albeit a couple of years ago).

Who makes the standard discs? Get the PN for them and go direct.

Re: After Market discs
The OEM discs arnt vented correctly, VAG in their quest to save money use the same casting for the internal venting of the drivers and passengers front discs meaning only the passengers disc clears the hot air effectively. The drivers side disc (with prolonged hard use) overheats and warps creating the dreaded disc judder felt by a number RS owners on this forum (including myself).
I replaced the OEM front discs with Vagbremtechnic 2 piece discs (an AP Racing disc mated to Vagbremtechnics bell). Now, both driver and passenger discs have the correct internal venting pattern to allow the discs to be cooled correctly during use with almost no chance of disc warping. Vagbremtechnic are currently running a 10% discount event until the end of May should anyone be interested.
Combined the new discs with Ferodo DS2500 Pads to great effect, just waiting to get new brake fluid, braided lines and rear pads installed to get the full benefit.
Re: After Market discs
Yes the unhanded front discs were the same on the B7 and probably many other RS models too but I've never managed to warp any of those either. They are big thick discs, must take an awful lot of heat to warp them.
Re: After Market discs
OE discs are vented correctly. It doesn't matter which way you mount them - they vent effectively if rotating forwards or backwards. And my dealer said it was near side discs that give trouble - something they blame on road debris and going through puddles etc (rightly or wrongly). And they are the discs supposedly put on the right way?? I think it's a red herring.shanek wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 11:17 pmThe OEM discs arnt vented correctly, VAG in their quest to save money use the same casting for the internal venting of the drivers and passengers front discs meaning only the passengers disc clears the hot air effectively. Edited to add: we had this debate when racing with after market discs on 968 in Porsche Championship. A straw poll around the pits with a temp gun revealed same spread of brake temps regardless of whether discs were handed or not (n/s were hotter but it was Castle Combe - clockwise circuit).

Hi guys,
Sorry to butt in, but have any of you used autodoc before? Have found the following and just wondered if anyone has bought from them before.
