https://europrice.us/controls-post-face ... i-function

*Note that the Drive Select button will function with all C7.5 model years, however only those with a 2016+ instrument cluster will display the Drive Select mode on the DIS after coding changes.

I'm assuming the the Drive Select button is more intelligent than simply a button and send a code along the data bus as there was a Shop offering the conversion and it was hardware related it I'm sure.
Ah, ok. Any idea how much that conversion was?

There was lots of discussion about engine mods but I don't think there was anything solid from Audi other than a boost increase giving more power and when overboosting a higher maximum torque.

Someone even said they had a different compression ratio. And I think the original Audi information said it had improved cooling.

As a side note, Luke from Plush said my antiroll bar mounts were different from his facelift non-performance car but this could be a MY2016 change rather than a Performance change.

Thinking about it, the steering wheel button probably just sends the same code along the data bus as the button on the dash so potentially no coding required.

Has anyone had the two cars side by side to see if the difference is noticeable in the real world?

I’m loving these extras, and the knowledge. So, the most recent link you provided, all of those extra buttons are just plug and play, or is coding required?

Steve, I've spoken to a few guys that have gone from pre facelift non PE to facelift PE and all have said there is a noticeable difference, even those that had a dubious remap on their old cars.

In the real world, non PE cars dyno at about 770nm rather than the quoted 700nm. My car as standard dynod at 773 and 774NM when not over boosting but hit 888NM on overboost so you are looking at a real world difference of about 100NM so should be noticeable.

Sorry all I know is what you can see on that advert but there is no mention of coding so assume not.

Haven’t driven a standard 550bhp C7.

My old C7 was Litchfield mapped.

My lastest PE (standard) in dynamic feels not a kick in the arse off it.

Drag race required really to tell.

Pretty sure it is just the Performance... my limited research has uncovered two non performance facelift versions, MY2016, on Pistonheads showing red line at 6600rpm.
