Start stop error

Post by ics3s » Tue Mar 06, 2018 10:04 am

Hello guys,

Since yesterday i have 2 problems with my car(Pre FL).
In the morning i started the car and after 10-20 seconds i get an EPC light and a warning not to go over 4000 RPM.
I turn the car off and on again, error disappears but then i get Start Stop System: System fault! Function unavailable. If i turn off the Start stop error disappears.

After i drive for a little and turn the car off and on again, errors are gone.

Heard something about changing the battery.
Anyone else had this problem?

Thank you,
Radu

I’m still having problems with my start/stop system. My issue is when the car goes into start/stop mode it will then not start properly it’s like either battery has died or it’s choking. New battery hasn’t resolved the issue so going into garage in a few weeks for further diagnosis.

After some driving 20-30 min and turning off and on the car, start stop works normally. Witch battery did you change? As i know there are 2, the usual 12V and another 48V. And from what i heard the start stop uses the 48V.

I replaced from Audi with the exact same battery. I was told that putting in anything less would not do the job. So I assume it will be the 48v one which you reference.

I’ve defo go an issue with the start/stop issue but nailing it down might be a pain.

I had the start stop system error last week. Audi assist looked at it and in the end advised that there was a known TPI against it 2046732/5
I dont know the specific problem part but it was a fault with the cooling system, I was advised that in pre facelift cars a part has to be changed - post facelift (mine is) the part is already 'updated' but if the this issue occurs (again sorry cant quote the exact error thrown on VDCS) then there is no fix at this time.
In the end after a few days the warning on the dash cleared itself and the system works again.
My issue is logged and when i fix is available then i will be contacted.

Doesn't sound like the problem here but a low battery can give a lot of random warnings. If you have a battery reconditioned then worth trying it.

will go later at a friend and put the tester on it to see if there are any error codes and i'll report later

So a friend put the tester on the car and there was only one error on 05.03.2018 from the Camshaft position sensor.

So i managed to get a copy from VCDS. This is the only fault it found from auto scan.
Friend suggested its a sensor.
