Just got my car back from audi today it was getting a new shock absorber under warranty so all good. They then told me I have a TD1 code on the car which I wasn't aware of. So I'm reckoning any engine problems and my warranty will be void. What exactly is TD1 and is it possible to remove this.
Hmmmmmmm....

I just can’t believe how many non-believers there are. All of them should try tune their car, blow it up then have the tuner “return to factory cause won’t be traced” Then come back here crying and we believers can have a good old laugh out loud.

Quick question: should a TD1 code be found, does it also log the date / time the modification was made? Or rather the date that the TD1 code got written to the ECU log?

Does this work? Presumably you'd need to get this installed with factory support. Knowing what I know about file hashing, salted hashing (no not the food stuff) and hardware token encryption. Installing a new ECU would require access to private keys for initialisation, as parts of the ECU firmware run encrypted. I can't see an Audi stealer being entrusted with the private key end of the encryption used.
No matter where you go, there you are.

That and presumably the ECU has a serial number which matches the VIN. Hacking the serial number should be impossible as it should be stored in ROM.

There is a real simple answer to all this. If you want to preserve your warranty don’t map the car. Please do not believe all this ball that tuners state claiming they can remove their map and Audi will never know.

Audi keeps a record centrally of what the count number should be for each VIN (based on how many times it's been plugged into their systems), if the count displayed sits outside the number expected, then it goes into the first flash counter and looks for the TB1 and TD1 errors. When these are flagged warranties are usually rendered void.

The flash counters serve two different purposes, one counts, one analyses. There is also another bit of the algorithm that analyses 'hardware' modification (tuning boxes and unidentified hardware that’s been plugged into the ECU) which produces a TXD code that is then added to the detection algorithm. It’s simple maths which will then flag the appropriate error (TD1, TG1, TE1 and TB1).
Well said.

Every few months a new bunch of shills for “tuning company X” come on this site telling people they can “reset for free” or “do it via the OBD” or “install a james bond button”.

Next up they’ll be trying to convince you telepathy works, or maybe faith healing.

Facts are:

Tuning is great but you will void your warranty and you must tell your insurance.

If you are happy with both of those things, fill yer boots.
come on next you'll be telling us Homiopthy is just hippy nonsense

My car is remapped and i have warrnity. BUT. there in Finland my frends makes wrc cars and other rally cars all over world. Most in Europe. 😊 he remapped my car and dyno stock and mapped. Then he gave me just simple obd plug and tell me. Is something weard happend. Turn of engine and put back on but not start and put this plug in obd shoket. That flash ecu and put stock map in to the car. And you can not see that car is been remapped.

That’s not true. Just because you put the stock map on doesn’t mean the fact that the ECU has been flashed with a non-OEM map isn’t visible. It is and if you think otherwise you are naive in the extreme.

all academic if you don't have to clam any warranty repair
but if you do good luck with the theory that Audi wont see the map as the car will count the ECU flashes
and if it doesn't read the same as there records
you lose sir
