Personal preference, and depends where you are planning to use the car. Doubt snow chains will fit the 21s, so they aren't going to be any good in places were it is a legal requirement to carry snow chains like the Alps (regardless of the fact you have four wheel drive and winter tyres)

Why do I need snow chains if I have awd, I used no chains on Bmw only winter tires, it’s actually useless to use those snow chains

Or for people who want to get past the roadblocks on passes in bad weather - when the Police check you have them and turn you around if you don't. Been there :(

Been to the Alps twice this year with 285 full winter tyres.

On both occasions encountered the full spectrum of conditions these tyres were designed for

1 - Heavy rain on motorway
2 - Settled snow on winding mountain road
3 - Snow / slush combination on motorway
4 - Temps below zero
5 - Ice

I drove within limits and the tyres and car performed flawlessly.

Some people talk about ground clearance when not using an SUV etc. type car in settled snow, but when you look at how comically high the front bumper and valence is on the RS6 you realise you’d need 30cm of settled snow before the RS6 would start to gather snow on the front / hit damaging ice lumps. In fact when I first bought the car I went really slowly over road bumps until I copped onto the fact that I had enough clearance to drive over them without needing to pay much attention to them at all!

As an aside, I carried chains from a previous car with 21” rims but wouldn’t have been able to use them!
