car buying advice

Post by drbru » Wed Jan 24, 2018 10:00 pm

So im in the market now for an RS6 and looking to spend as close to 50k as possible but am looking up to 60k for the time being

Must haves include the following

Nardo, black, Blue
Pano roof
21 inch black/silver allots
Black/carbon styling pack
Black leather
Ideally sports exhaust too.

The dilemma i currently have is that its been pointed up to me that e63 amg estates are anything from 30-38k...Im not here to debate which is the better car as in my mind its clearly the audi. However it is very difficult to ignore something that is 15k cheaper basically because it has depreciated more compared to the RS6. The AMG is fundamentally a great car as well but I think the only thing i would get over my existing f10 m5 is more space which to be fair is very important right now

What I wanted to ask is if I'm looking at an rs6 listed at say 60k...What kind of negotiating room do you think I currently have...5%? 10%?

If your taking finance beware the difference in a used car interest rate to that of brand new car I was looking at 2015 rs6 at £58k coming in at £500 a month but instead bought brand new out of factory for £86k paying £521 a month same deposit and term due to interest rates so was no brainer to buy new car.

Haggling will depend on how long they’ve had it and how much interest they’ve had.

Their margin won’t be 10%, 5% is going to be upper end, give or take. If you were taking finance then they’d be more willing to do a deal.

I put £20k down got 15% off new price so only paying around £73800 final balloon payment £36k.

I just sold mine -its on with Churches performance cars in sussex. They have it on at £60k I sold it to them for £54k. 1 yr warranty left. excellent car no issues.

Im sure they would give a bit on the price but clearly they wont do 10%

100% recommend the car .

I put £28k down on a brand new PE with list of £94k but £79k with discounts. £550 per month over 4 years with a £32k balloon (or similar, it's been a while now).

Thanks Mike

I'm guessing the value of a low miler (circa 25k) after 4 years would be in excess of £32k..!

Just had a look...Lovely car! this is my exact dilemma though....I could probably stretch to open 60k and I do prefer the RS6 over the e63 amg...However, for a decent spec AMG is basically in the mid 30s so big decision to make!

Had an E63 AMG which was a lovely car. The RS6 was by far faster and better handling.
