Winter Tyres

Post by Jiminez » Mon Jan 22, 2018 12:37 pm

Hi - looking for some winter tyres to fit the standard 20” concave wheels - 275/35/20 I think. Looks like the only R01 rated/Audi approved winter ones are the Dunlop’s, but they are out of production in this size and none available.

Does anyone have other recommendations? Does the R01 rating make any difference?

Thanks

R01 is just the Audi designation to indicate it has the noise cancelling foam. Any other well known tyre brand in standard size would do.

R01 also available without noise cancelling foam.
But yes any make is fine.

I have Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s on mine. Done about 3000 winter miles including snow and icy roads. Car has hardly put a foot wrong unless I really hoon about. Tyre wear is more of a concern. Not measured, but going down quicker than I expected, especially when they aren’t too good below 4mm tread.
