Now driven car a few hundred miles and can notice the difference. Much softer and forgiving ride in comfort and the loud knocking and clonking on full lock seems much quieter too. I asked at audi what was actually wrong as wanted to understand the issue but got totally blanked on the technical side other than master tech worked on it and shocks were leaking - nowt else forthcoming. Think this issue is going to be one of those long threads for C7 owners !
Skris6. The lancia is still with me thank god ! Shes undergoing a full resto at the moment and the repaint colour is causing sleepless nights ! Car original is lord blue but im erring on painting it ferrari verde abatone which is simply stunning in the flesh.
The 205 is also scheduled for rebuild later this year as its a keeper but when you drive it its just soo small ! Crazy feeling and a wake up to how big modern cars are !

Just when I thought I could actually enjoy the car a slight knocking has started from the front near side. Only noticeable at low speed on uneven roads but sounds like something is loose and it’s the same sound which steadily got worse prior to all four shocks being changed.
Back to Audi yet again😫😫
It also needs new rear pads so dropped into QST today to book in. Standing with the owner Kim talking about the knocking sound and he starts looking at my car from the rear and saying it doesn’t look right.
Turns out the rear offside sits best part of. 35mm lower than the near side.. on checking the camber the lower side is actually 2degrees outcompared to the other. The only people to have touched the car is Audi.
Where the f###k do they train these people????
Also seems the track day that was promised after all my hassle with the engine giving up has gone from an £800 track day to the offer of a meal for two😂😂

Mines in for this too.

Interestingly, my local audi noted the knock but said they would replace under warranty as they hadn't failed. to which i asked the question, so you are saying that the knock is as expected.

Its now back with the dealer i brought it from so fingers crossed as its driving me mad

All sorted now the camber was out. Didn’t think it would make that much difference but now correct and the gap is equal 👍

I had mine in to Audi recently and had doc shock change and two new rear valves and still have a knock, when questioning this, i had a reply from one of their master techs, see below;

The customer complains about noises on uneven roads.

The noises are from the Dynamic Ride Control running gear and are mainly perceived in the comfort mode. A leak or an incorrect system pressure can be ruled out as the cause.

The complaint must clearly differ from the normal working noise of the DRC running gear, This hydraulic performance running gear cannot operate completely noiselessly.

Sudden bouncing of the springs leads to a metallic rumbling noise in the shock absorber because of a brief local pressure change.

So i'm in a situation where the drc has been replaced with uprated shocks, but i still get the knock and they are saying basically tough.

I feel for all you guys who are having trouble !!!!!

I'm pretty much fed up with the whole DRC thing ! Audi have been having problems with them for a seriously long time.

Both my RS4's had DRC problems. The first B7 RS4 they eventually fixed, but when it came to my brand new B8 RS4 I was simply told by Audi UK, it 'was a characteristic of the car and within tolerance'. Bull <beep> !!!!! They simply refused to do anything about it and there was only 50 miles on the clock when they were informed of the problem. I simply couldn't put up with the knocks and bangs from both front shocks so in the end, I ended up selling the car. The dealer in question even re-pressurised the shocks and guess what, they managed to make the problem worse. Some dealers are just incapable of looking after these RS cars !

I would love an RS6 but Audi's refusal to help with my RS4 has certainly dampened my enthusiasm for purchasing another Audi. Thats a real shame as I love these RS cars. Out of curiosity, I have been keeping an eye out for an RS6 with ordinary air suspension and finding one seems to be extremely difficult as most seem to spec theirs cars with DRC.

Ricky !

I think “Within tolerance” should replace Vorsprung durch Technik, Even though they replaced all four shocks plus re do the geometry according to Audi it was all within tolerance. LOB 😂
