FRONT Parking Sensors- Automatic activation when slowing to low speed?

Just noticed that the FRONT parking sensors on my RS activate automatically when slowing down to park. Was this always the case? I have always engaged the sensors manually in the past so maybe it has always been available "automatically" and I am only realising it now...
[I recently had a software update so maybe it is as a result of that?]

Only occurs on mine if you stick into R first.

Mine only come on if you press the parking sensor button or put it into reverse. However, some of the guys on the RS3 guys were changing the settings using
VCDS so that their system did exactly as you describe above. Has anyone been making changes using
VCDS?

My
VCDS guru guy tried (like increasing the 'stay on' speed etc) but all changed got accepted but resetted after mmi reboot.
Simular to radio OFF or muted...
Curious if there is a link or info availible on what they changed on the 3 series....

The RS3 guys copied it from a website which is now a dead link, but I found this on a german website. I'm not entirely sure if it is talking about the automatic parking feature or the automatic activation of the parking sensors though!?!
Tranlsated to English it reads:
activate the automatic parking function
In the control unit of the parking aid, you have the option to activate the automatic activation on the Audi A3 8V and the built-in APS + (front and rear). Moving forward on an obstacle, the APS + detects this and signals the distances over the MMI both visually and acoustically.
The following coding must be used:
Select STG 10 (parking aid)
STG Access authorization function 16
Enter access code 71679
STG coding -> Select function 07
Byte 3
Activate bit 4
Live coding: in progress
