RS6 21" Inch wheels how bad?

Post by MGRS6 » Tue Sep 19, 2017 9:47 pm

Hey all, I currently own a Rs6 with the oem 20 inch wheels. Thinking of buying the 21" Performance Rims as my summer set.
How bad are they? The 20" are forged. The 21" are not forged?

I read a couple of posts about those rims on the forum, but I really like the way they look.
Thanks for the help guys.

Greetings

Marc from Vienna, Austria;)

I've only heard of one instance of any issues with the Performance wheels.

I had three of the 21” x 9.5J ‘5-twin-spoke’ design wheels buckle (no idea how) but aside from the above post, not heard of any problems with the performance wheels either...

Yes but didn't he have lots of other issues too? Warped discs causing wobble.
Not heard of any other issues, but lots with the normal 21s.

Indeed, I think he did but Audi wrote off 3 of the wheels so suggests an issue irrespective of brakes / other cause of wobble.

If he is me ?

The wobble appeared prior to the brake issue. Wobble occurring with road speed and not braking.
Initially the impact of the wobble on the steering was small but clear.
The brakes then borked. They replaced the front steel discs.
On return the wobble continued to increase until it was unmanagable at 50mph.
In truth I was amazed they even returned the car after the brake replacement as when I took it back in to demo the fault the tech agreed even before we left the roundabout.
3 wheels buckled.
They did not replace them saying that Audi had only approved them to try and repair them first.
A local outsourced (Reading) company is used to do this for them. It was good but still had a tremor on return.
Not impressed with this and a couple of other things so sold the car.
