Gearbox issues

Currently weighing up whether to go for the audi extended warranty or a remap but am aware of the gearbox issues that have appeared on the C7.

Has anyone had their gearbox repaired/replaced outside of the dealer network as i presume Audi will just want to replace the full unit and charge full whack (£12k?) for the privilege?

Not aware as Chris says of any gearbox issues on the C7;

A gearbox oil change (despite it stating it doesn't need one) at 40k miles transforms car; Tartan Rob, had it done - MRC undertook the work from memory

I was under the impression that the zf unit wasnt the strongest unit and a few have failed in the c7?

It has a bulletproof reputation in all applications I know of. Not aware of any Audi failures but all complex bits of engineering fail now and then so I expect someone has had a problem somewhere given the numbers produced - but yet to read of one.

C6 box was and is granite

As above C7 box no known massive failures, but as said numbers sold in any marque you will get issues.

Sure your not thinking about the old C5 box?

Pretty sure there has been 1 failure mentioned on here, the owner isn't in the UK from what I remember.

This was the one I was thinking of - viewtopic.php?f=76&t=125592&p=855364#p855364

Sounds like it could have actually been damaged, not failed.

Thanks for the feedback - certainly reassuring.
