Minor 'lurching' on manual shifts

I have a 2016 non-PE FL C7, which I've had for a few months. No mods.

I've noticed it has a tendency to lurch forward when manually downshifting. For example when approaching a roundabout and downshifting to make use of engine breaking. It's as if the downshift throttle blip is happening before the clutch has fully disengaged, causing a lurch forward. It's only slight and dosent occur all the time. It's worse in S mode.

I find it quite unnerving, and defeats the engine breaking benefits as you speed up slightly with each downshift!

Is this normal?

Normal. It is a software issue I think - it is almost as if the car thinks you are downshifting to accelerate rather than brake, it gives a slight blip of throttle on the first downshift.
That said this is an auto so why downshift to engine brake? Never works well. Probably why the software isn't properly set up to do it. Just use the brake :)

Humm. Guess so. Just seems satisfying to engine brake instead of wear down your brakes ;)
True it dosent work as well as a manual.
It should blip the throttle but just to match the rotation speeds either side of the clutch - supposed to make it a smooth transition.
I got 70k miles off my rear disks AND pads on my B7 RS4 :)

Aye but the tiniest blip on a 6 lights the fire in its belly :)
