Before I buy one what should I know?

Ok so new to this forum... Hi and all that.

Thinking about buying a threeish year old RS6 C7 later this year! Would appreciate any feedback on must haves or nots. Got a few in my head but would like to hear from some owners?

Also looking for info on running costs... I know it's not a VW UP but any info on depreciation, insurance, servicing and MPG would be great. I currently have a C7 black edition with the 272BHP Diesel engine... it's quick for a diesel and gets 30mpg no matter how hard I drive it...46 on a long run.

The new purchase would be a weekend / bit of fun car and not for the commute to work... Antisipate under 5k a year. Would be looking to hold onto this car for a while as the V8s seem to be a dying breed and it's always been a dream. Is electric really the future....
Comments please....

Had two now...awesome car

Dynamic pack a Deffo....Dynamic pack plus even more of a bonus.

Pan roof awesome

Assistance packs awesome

Not that bad on fuel for me...cylinder de activation sees to that on long runs.

Don't worry about depreciation on these cars....if so it's not for you.

Spec as above, though only you can decide what you do/don't need.
1. Ensure it has Audi backed warranty.
2. Insurance will depend on your history/location. Likely a tracker will be required.
3. Depreciation, yes, there will be plenty as there are a lot of these in the market. More than 10x its predecessor.
4. MPG 20-30
5. It's not going to be an investment, so bank on losing plenty in value.
6. Servicing ~500 a year average, though the regime is likely to be a service every other year, alternating between oil change and full inspection.

Seems a strange choice as a weekend car....

Braw...
Is the cylinder deactivation on all the C7's?
Also in my head I wanted the pano roof... got that on the current car. Sports exhaust and the dynamic pack! Or does the sports exhaust come with the dynamic pac? These were the main musts... can you actually hear the engine when your driving it? My biggest complaint with the current car is Audi are making the cockpit too quiet!
Insurance wise I'm 40 something with a clean licence and live in low crime area... so the insurance company say. I'm probably about as safe an option there is for them! Warranty wise I would buy from a main dealer and the safety of the warranty for the year! After that was going to go it alone... I know that's a risk with an expensive car as I've just had the engine out of my current car and all 4 cams replaced under warranty! 20k on the clock and not even two years old!

Everyone's different but I had OEM sports exhaust and thought it was poor....so I modded both my cars....one with Milltek and one with resonators cut out.

Not sure if SE comes with dynamic pack

Black rear ovals are a sign of sports zorst

I'd deffo get a warranty for an older car...loads have been mapped now so do your homework.

Real world mpg is around 22 - and that's with mostly motorway miles. My 28000 average is 22.

Cabin is very quiet. expect to hear nothing in the driver's seat for most of the time.

Car is going to lose you money whether it is at home on the drive or doing the commute so I say do the commute - it's never a boring journey in an RS6. The extra loss because of the increased mileage can be offset by the saving of not running two cars.

Ok so everyone's saying bad depreciation! How bad is bad? The way I see depreciation is you'll loose 50% of the new price by the end of the third year. So 90k new would about 45-50k when it hits three years old. It'll then loose 50% of that 50k so at 6 years old might be worth 25k and so on... I know this isn't a bomb proof principal but it kind of works for what I have just now, which depreciates by about £500 a month. Anyone want to scare me more?

I wouldn't sell mine for 45k and it's coming upto 3 years old. Not a chance and I've had some pretty decent offers on it already.

DRC was the only essential for me.
Had sports exhaust and removed it for miltek.
Mines mapped and I did 170 mile commute earlier in the week and averaged 29 on way down and 31 on way back. (50 zones help!)

If you play with the car round town and appreciate the noise expect that MPG to halve..

Three years, 45k seems about right.

Ok so I guess it depends on equipment and mileage....50k miler maybe...

Given what Audi are asking for their used examples at this age I'd still say 45 isn't going to be far off. Might get high 40s or 50, but there's not much more in it. Couple of grand here or there, meh.

As I said - depends on the car I guess...

Aye. However in the used market spec and colour increases saleability but doesn't increase value, well, not unless there's a bidding war.

You try and trade your car and you will <beep> yourself what you get offered

Doesn't matter it's your pride and joy and been waxed every day etc etc etc

A dealer couldn't care less....an RS6 is and RS6(of course small variables aside)

My arse dropped out when I traded my old 63 plate for my66 plate PE.....
