Should I move C6 to C7?

So, question for you all here. I’ve been a faithful RS6 owner for 8 years now, and am currently on a mint v.low mileage 2010 Plus which Ive had for 3 years. It has a pretty generous spec, and with nothing going wrong, it’s been perfect for demolishing long distances, motorways and dual carriageways. I can’t fault it really.

However, as with the ‘new’ RS6 being rubbed in my face for 3 years now, I’m waning between needing a new shape RS6 for its improved looks and dynamism, and then baulking at the thought of spending an extra £40k for what is essentially the same car, with a few improvements.

Is the new RS6 £40k better than the old car, or will I regret spending the extra money when the novelty of having a new car wanes? What I’m unsure of is how much the desire for a new car is driving the ‘need’ for the new RS6, or whether the new car is worth the extra outlay, especially with the C8 shape not too far away.

I have 2 other more ‘dynamic cars for the fun stuff, so the Audi is used mainly by my wife during the week, and for weekend family trips and holidays.

What would YOU do? Thoughts?

Having moved from a C6 Saloon to a FL C7 RS6 very recently here's my take:

It's pretty much a totally different car. More feedback, significantly quicker lower down (am taking it your Plus is stock-my loon was), better brakes, better systems etc etc. The C6 platform started in 2005 so it's a 12 year old car no matter which way you look at it. The C7 kicked off in 2012 I believe so much newer tech +++
The difference between the two is staggering I found, feels lighter and more tactile despite there being not much difference in weight (less than 100 kgs afaik). The biggest difference of course is economy! I've had 31.2 mpg out of the C7 so far and others have got slightly more. MPG a C6 owner could only dream of!
Now the C7 is my only car so if you have other cars then maybe it's worth waiting to see what the C8 is like but you'll have to wait til around early 2019 for the new RS6 it's thought.
It is a very different car though especially tech wise.

C7 is better. But only 10-20k better. Current market is way overpriced as stealers are holding onto them and artificially bumping the price.
C6's have great interior, solid build and bullet proof performance - nothing comes close.
Far fewer on the road and the good/late specced ones will always command premium, whether you sell today or later.

Id keep the C6. And I have ;)

Thx for the replies so far... Forgot to mention that my C6 is MRC stage 2 tuned with 756ps and 1150nm.

I think the C8 is probably 12/18 months of at least?

C6 is all about the engine and that's about it.

The C7 is a complete step up in almost every respect handling is improved 100%. It's no longer just a motorway/dual carriageway car you can now seriously attack A to B roads.

Gearbox is a complete revelation you could liken it to a motorcycle when coming from a C6.

Tech is also massively improved.

However, if you already have other interesting and fun cars then maybe worth sticking with the C6 if you have a good one as they will be sought after in the future.

Then the C7 will definitely be a downgrade... ;)

Unless you want to go around a corner, which is often a requirement in the U.K.

I'm on KW coil over springs, and H&R ARBs, so the handling is actually pretty good for anything other than very tight back roads. The only thing that I don't like is the feeling of weight in the nose forward of the front axle and the consequential hefty steering. It does however have much more feel than the C7 which I would miss. The C7 I drove had completely dead steering, which was the main downside.

We must have driven different cars. C6 was dead in handling and steering. C7 is in a different league on both, and is actually capable of changing direction.

I loved my C6 but it was a flat track bully.

I thought the C7 was worth spending 50k+ more over the c6 as it is my main car but we are all different in how we rate the worth of a new car.
I think you can see above they are leagues apart from everyone that has owned both so the question only you can answer is whether you are willing to pay the difference for you wife to drive during the week and holidays etc.
I dont think an RS6 Performance will be far off from a stage 2 C6, it is obviously slower but not a world apart with the better gearbox. And about 1k will get you an MRC stage 2 C7 which will tip the scales the other way.
And forget about the C8, based on RS5 prices the C8 will be 100k+ for a basic spec

Make sure if you get one it's got ceramics...

I've had steels and ceramics over my two C7s

Don't listen to the boys who say you don't need them...believe me you do especially if tuned

The difference is literally night and day in a two tonne weapon.

My experience was the exact opposite. Couldn't bring myself to commit to a C6 despite the marvellous engine and driving one for a few hundred miles. But i fell in love with the C7 within 10 miles and got my wallet out. To be honest the C6, impressive though it was, felt dated and wooden - the C7 is the car the RS6 should have been all along. Leagues apart imho, but each to their own. I have not driven a tuned car so can't comment on differences.

PS try switching steering modes in your next drive. I find comfort much better than dynamic (which feels over damped).

Why dont you split the difference?

Sell yours, sounds like its 25ks worth and get a 50k c7?

Winner winner!

My C6 with only a Supersprint exhaust made 609bhp/537lbft at MRC. Powerwise theres nothing in it, gearbox obviously helps the C7 if it comes to drag race
