Time to upgrade...?

Evening All...
So - having covered only 19k miles, suffered complete combustion failure from a broken inlet valve spring and needing a new cylinder head, I've decided that whilst the car still has some value in it, and is still under warranty for a further 6 months, i may P/X the old girl for a face lift PE. I am presuming the C8 model will not be along for another 18 months - 2 years at least, so I guess i should get my skates on.
If i order from new now with my own spec I will potentially wait 4-5 months for delivery, whereas I have been offered one in the country already that is the right colour but missing options like the Pano roof, power close doors, heated rear seats and rear air bags. It does however have the other options like Dynamic Pack, Parking Pack Advanced, Assistance Pack, Connect & Phone Box, Smartphone Interface and 21" V Spokes in Gloss Black which are all options I would have chosen.
Question is: Do I wait and enjoy exactly what I want or compromise slightly and get it now...??
Thanks

The lack of heated rear seats and rear airbags are not going to spoil your enjoyment. I hear power doors are annoying so it's sounds to me like it's just the lack of pano roof that might actually spoil it for you. Me personally, I'd go with the available car rather than wait. I bought new because there were no PEs in the country and with discount it worked out cheaper than a 2nd hand non PE. And the wait was only 8 weeks.

Or, look at the alternatives. New E63, Panamera, there's lots of sweeties in the
Shop. C7 is getting on and your residual is going to be a lot weaker now.

8 weeks was a result !
Yes I agree and had decided that the heated rear seats and airbags were fairly insignificant. I have lived without the pano roof for sometime now too and imagine I could easily carry on without but it was the one option I previously thought I would have if building from scratch. I may try and get a more accurate timescale tomorrow and weigh it up then but the thought of waiting any length of time is unpleasant !

It depends if any of those options are must have ones. If it was me I'd go for the one I can have now as all those four options I can live without. I have a pano roof but never use it the under cover is always closed. Heated rear seats and rear airbags, I rarely have anyone in the back. Power close doors I do have and like but could live without.
I've probably been no help what so ever !!!!!!!!

I have considered that option and been trawling all three sites for the last few weeks. However to be fair, the prices for those with a reasonable spec are not much different to the deal i am close to agreeing for a new one. I'm not fussed about HUD or ceramics and with the kids, i'd be a nervous wreck with Alcantara so no point in paying top money for things that I am happy to live without. Plus, if i get the same colour as my existing car then my wife may never know I've spent more money

How did it fail? What's the verdict from Audi?
Is there another thread on it. Assume so as no one has enquiries so far.

I was returning from a 3k mile trip through Europe and 'luckily' i'd just reached the Calais train terminal and the car went into limp mode. Managed to get it on the train and called Audi Assit when arrived in Folkestone. Diagnostics reported complete combustion failure to cylinders 5,6,7 and 8. At first it was thought it could be a failed coil pack but it was actually much worse. Audi Technician had to strip the engine down and found one of the springs had broken. He was as shocked as I was because he'd never seen one go before. I was told it was just one of those unfortunate things but extremely unusual. Luckily the warranty covered it otherwise I'd have been looking at a 10k bill... ! Thankfully it was standard and without modification or they would have red carded me. Nonetheless, it is almost unheard of and no one else seems to have had anything similar so seems like just my bad luck I guess.
It took three weeks to fix and they removed and replaced 303 bolts but it runs just as well now as it did before it conked out so all is good

I hear you and that does make perfect sense but I don't think I've had the most out of the car if that doesn't sound too weird... Only had it for 15 months and feel it can give me much more enjoyment. Maybe in two years or so I will revisit the sweet
Shop although the Panamera is very tempting

Soft close doors-they have their uses but only for yourself (although kids love the novelty value of a 'magic' self closing door!) and you spend your life telling people you have them so no need to slam them shut....immediately followed by them slamming the door closed! Am glad I don't have it on my C7.

Considered doing the same - swapping in for a PE - but spent ages sorting the DRC on my 20k 2015 car and now that it is as it should been from day 1 I have fallen back in love with it. And the switch will be very expensive. I have an extended warranty on mine so will probably stick with it. Mind you, I can resist anything but temptation...

As others have said, would you not be better off holding onto your current car which will have already suffered the worst of its depreciation & holding out for the C8?
Whilst the newer shiny FL/PE would be a nice upgrade, it will be much of the same to what you already have (no major differences) & realistically you'd be buying at the worst possible time given the car is so close to its end of life.

I’ve been debating the same, trading my 15 plate for a new PE. I had enquired with 2 well known car sourcing websites and one of them worked with a few dealers for a delivery ETA. They all advised that the wait is a good 6 months and not to expect delivery until the end of the year.
They also advised that the order books were not likely to be open much longer due to an impending announcement. Not sure what to make of this as I’m sure Audi will milk it if demand is high? Is it possible that the new RS6 could be announced later this year or very early next?
I wouldn’t want to take delivery of a new car around the same time the C8 RS6 is announced. Think I will hold out just in case!
