Front shocks replacement.

Hi guys,

I will need to change the front shocks soon because they are starting to leak, but OEM is about 2000Euros for both. Any other manufacturer that makes them for the DRC version? Car is 2014 model.

Thank you

What is your mileage? When did the warranty expire? You may get goodwill.

PS oil misting is normal on these shocks - or is it worse than this?

50000km. Audi here says the warranty for consumabels is only 1 year. Its just a bit of oil. But seems that is fine from what you say.
I have that rattle that everyone complains about and i just took a look at the suspension and saw a bit of oil. Will go and make a suspension test with it and see if the bushes are the problem. Seems a lot of users here had an issue with them.

Warranty is three years here and a few people (me included) have had knocking dampers replaced with "altered acoustics" to stop noise.
The DRC system is under very high pressure (12 bar from memory) so some tiny leaks and misting are normal.
If you do have a significant leak the pressure in the DRC will drop, worsen knocking and can damage control valves (expensive)

Do you have the part number so i cand also change the knocking dampers? Also is there a way to check the pressure of the DRC?

I don't have part number. Your Audi dealer will - there is a technical bulletin about the knocking.
You need a special machine to test and top up the pressure. Talk to the dealer again.

I went to audi and they have no knowledge about the knocking. Thats why i was asking for the part number. Maybe someone here knows it.

All I know is that the bulletin was issued in June/ July last year. My car was recalled by the dealer and had four new shocks. Unfortunately 20k on the first set of knocking dampers damaged the control valves so some knocking continued due to low pressure. I had both valves replaced under warranty last month and the car is now silent
If your dealer contacts Audi and registers your problem they can access the bulletin. You may get some goodwill towards the cost :beerchug:

Misting is normal, get both circuits pressure checked to determine if they really are losing pressure. Takes minutes to do.

Audi guidelines are that the shock absorber must show signs of leaking around 2cm down the strut before they will replace...
You know what to do... ;)

None of mine were leaking - they called me out of the blue to swap out all 4. The valves subsequently leaked however. Right pain. But all sorted now.

The dealer has to request it. Doesn't matter if the car is secondhand if still under warranty.
