Audi Connect questions

Post by ics3s » Fri Apr 21, 2017 10:59 am

Hi all,

So I have the Audi MMI plus touch. (pre FL RS6 model 2014)
Why dont i have the Audi Connect icon? I installed a SIM with data and google maps and WI-FI worked just fine.
Why cant i use text messages? The option is greyed out. (i use an iPhone 6 and i dont have the option to show notification in the bluetooth devices on the phone)
MMI Version Information:
HN+R_EU_AU_P0660
Nav. database version:
8R0060884BC ECE 6.16.3

Do i need to update the MMI so i can use them?

I don't recall there being an Audi Connect icon. What are you expecting under this?

Text messages use the car's SIM, not your phone.

There is a 2G MMI and a 3G MMI my 2010 Q5 didn't have it nor the 3D maps but my S4 B8.5 did on a 62 plate and my SQ5 on a 14 plate did. What year is your vehicle?

Sorry just seen you have the pre fl 2014 RS6......as it's a touch I believe this was an early system updated to be touch, bit like a glorified 2G version? Best ask Audi I suppose

And you don't have "info" icon or "Audi connect" icon? When selecting info it takes you to traffic then top right is audi connect option which is the same pressing Audi connect in menu screen. Both require a sim to go onto the web. I don't think your missing out on much but again go to Audi or look on their site. Sorry I'm not much help on this

Ok, just been on to myAudi part of site where you log in. When clicking on my vehicle it tells me Audi connect infotainment is not connected and provides a pin for me to input in car, then I'll be connected without the use of sim through my phone instead. The sim just provides a wifi hotspot instead of your phone being one and it gives you google maps and a few other bits. If you haven't got it it's really not a big deal.

Your phone can only be used for data if it supports SIM Access Profile. Not many, including iPhone, do.
