New Grille Fitted

I bought a "quattro" grille from Prospect Tuning on eBay after I was assured the grille would fit......it didn't, well not quite. There are a limited number of screw holes and some are not aligned with the frame. Easily sorted with a drill and certainly enough to keep it on securely. Secondly, the sensor apertures were slightly higher and had the cabling coming out the wrong way.....another quick fix. There were tabs all the way around which didn't fit either.....they all came off. Had to cut back the screw holes as well.

Was not happy about the grille issue, especially after the hassle of getting the bumper off! I may have been slightly hungover as well!! But, had waited long enough, in my eyes, to get this done so made lemonade as they say.

I wanted to fit spacers at the same time but had ordered the wrong front ones.....what a dumbass!!!

But, I am really happy with the new grille. If anyone is thinking of doing the same then I can certainly help out with what to do. I also know that not everyone is a fan of the "quattro" grille but to me it looks awesome!

......and yes, that is frost you see from this morning!!!

Got to love the whole blacked out look! Isn't the new grilles RS6 badge closer to the Audi rings than the original?

Good spot with the RS6 Badge. Might just leave it there to irk people!! ;-). I also wanted black rings and the grille came with those too so double whammy. One of the next jobs is to black out the matt chrome effect trim.

Thanks. The whole bumper removal was easier than I thought but still tricky for my level of DIY.

I'm doing this v soon but putting rings on and wrapping the outer grill. Main reason is to get the blades off...

Very uneasy about taking bumper off tbh with all the washer pipes / camera wiring - likely to break or scuff something no matter how prepared I am!

Once you get all the torx and 10mm bolts off, the bumper just pulls off. Grille has about 20 odd torx!! Plenty length in wiring to place the bumper on the ground after. For my job I left washer pipes attached and only had to take off front sensor. No front camera for me. These connections are easy to take off and put back in. Putting the bumper back on is tricky but straight forward enough. Take 5 rather than get pee'd off.

There is one 10mm bolt that has an access hole cut into the framework that can be tricky to get back in. Need the right angle to engage threads properly or you'll bugger them.

Give yourself plenty time as well! If you need anything then give me a shout. ImageImageImage

Thanks. Does is slide back on nicely in guides and fit nice and flush.
I've taken B5 RS4 bumpers off before and never got them back quite how I wanted them! Old rusty fixings and tough to reach torx bolts

Mine went back on pretty easily. You'll need to manipulate it a bit. All the bolts and toe are easy, apart from the 10mm bolt you need the extension for.

It looks liek you did the job in the middle of the road!

That's what I thought!!

My bodywork man used a ramp to do my grille swap on my old car...he's an expert and it looked too hard for me to tackle!

There are actually four 10mm bolts! The red arrow marked up photo shows location of tricky one, yellow the straight forward ones. ImageImageImageImage
