Bike carrier

Post by Zeebuilder » Sat Apr 15, 2017 12:18 pm

Has anyone fitted a rear bike carrier? Purchased one yesterday from Decathlon.

The problem is the rear window spoiler, the boot won't close with straps attached.

Any advise welcome. Not really wanting roof mounted as possibly have the roof box on also.

Zee if your car is on air then I'd go for a tow bar and stick the bikes on a rack off the tow bar. I wouldn't want the bikes hanging off the boot.

Was thinking that! Anyone have any ideas of cost?

Does it have to be OEM or after market?

The rear carriers (non towbar mounted) won't work due to the spoiler. I had roof carriers on my previous C7 and now have the tow bar and bar mounted carrier on the new car

Any of the Thule carriers. 300 quid give or take, for a two bike carrier, 400+ for a three or four bike carrier.

I use a velocompact 927 which takes three bikes with an add on for a fourth.

Just make sure you have somewhere to store it.

Saris Bones are the best. As mentioned, the ones that attach to the hatch aren't compatible with the C7 due to the roof spoiler, but they do a trailer hitch mounted rack that is.
